Okay guys, let’s not putting it off any longer, today I’m tackling procrastination.

It seemed an appropriate time, given how late in the day I’m getting to this. But now, I have a biological explanation for this tardiness—it’s my brain’s fault.  My limbic system to be more precise. Don’t worry, I won’t hog the excuse, you all can have it too. Next time someone complains about your procrastination, blame it on your weak prefrontal cortex. That’s the part of your brain that would in theory, over-ride your procrastinating limbic system and get you moving on that project.

Really, when you think about it, especially in stead of doing whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing right now, procrastination is wonderful marvel of evolution. It’s a gift really. It’s been said that necessity is the mother of invention, and nothing increases the necessity of something quite like a little (and by little I mean a lot of) procrastination. You know you should complete that task right now, but you’ll be even more motivated tomorrow, and really, you know that you thrive under pressure.

Sure, there are plenty of tips out there for overcoming our biological (it’s not you, it’s Science) tendency towards procrastination, and the link is right here, but they’ll still be there tomorrow. And in the words of an eternally optimistic red-headed orphan: It’s only a day away.
