It is frighting just how fast time is flying by. I think you notice it more as you get older. As a kid, summer lasted forever. Days seemed to never end. We would go from sunrise to sunset playing tag, swimming, reading books, every day was a new adventure. Now, no matter what the season my days are all the same. This is probably why I enjoy blogging so much. Each post is new adventure. It adds a new dimension to life. Blogging forces to me to be creative every day.
With July almost gone, it means that my little boy is almost three. In our house, where there are birthday celebrations there are out of town guests. In August the Walls home opens it doors for friends and family visiting out of town.
I love having guests in our house. The house instantly becomes warm and alive. Not that we aren't a lively crowd on our own. It's just when you had a few more kids, sisters, and grand parents the noise level goes up a few decibels. This is also the time of year when I re-evaluate having more kids.
This year I thought it would be nice to welcome my guests with a few bathroom essentials. It never fails when I go on a trip that I forget something that is essential to looking and smelling good. Having everything available and out in the open saves my family from having to ask, and me searching frantically for that extra toothbrush I had stored away "just in case".
I took an old letter carrier I got at a yard sale and crammed it full of lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razors, dental floss, advil, and a first aid kit.
I also made little individual bags for each guest out of the kleenex hand towels. You will not believe how durable these puppies are! They also went through my sewing machine like butter.
Step by Step Instructions:
1. Fold your kleenex towel in half. 2. Create a pocket by sewing two straight lines with 3-4 inches between them. 3. Cut the access "fabric" and flip inside out. 4. Using any stamp and ink pad to decorate the front. It would also be fun to use letters to monogram your towel bags. 5. Fill the bags up with essentials for each guest 6. Display in a cute container
Another idea would be to customize each bag to fit your guests personalities. Maybe add a few of their favorite things.
I also like to add fresh flowers to the bathroom and make sure to have plenty of towels, wash cloths, and anything else my guests would need at their disposal. Essentially, I want my bathroom to mimic one of a hotel except a little cozier and maybe not as clean. I also doubt most hotels come with their very own Tow-mater drinking glass.
