Summertime…and I’m Working with Wool.

Posted on the 22 June 2012 by Maggyruth @maggyruth

This is my 3rd summer here in New Jersey. I still find it strange to live in an area that has a summer season that actually lasts more than 2 weeks.

I’ve had considerable time on my hands once school was over for the semester. So, why haven’t I used that time to blog?  Dunno.  I don’t know that I’ve had anything particularly interesting to say.  Or, maybe I have and I just haven’t said it here. Who knows. But, I’m here now, and here’s what I’ve been doing since I last posted…

1) Crocheting/knitting…a lot.  I have a list of things that I would like to get through before school starts back up in the fall, and it appears that my friends are also becoming prolific in the baby-making area, so many things on my needles and/or hooks are tiny in nature and go relatively quickly. Save for this one damn baby sweater that is giving me fits, but I really, REALLY want to make because it will be gorgeous in the yarn I picked for it and the person having the baby that I’m making it for is important to me. But damn those yarn overs!!

2) I went home for brief stint to celebrate my nieces birthday…she’s one!  How can you miss your niece’s first birthday? And also? She’s super adorable and can walk now…I can’t stand how cute she is…

“I’m a cutie and I know it…”

3) I rocked (almost) all of my Spring semester classes.  Save for one class, I got straight A’s.  My best semester GPA as Rutgers yet. And little to no crying, unlike Fall semester, which saw me cry a river of tears over Calculus…and Physics…and Orgo.

4) I learned how to spin! As in yarn! And why would I want to learn how to spin yarn? Well, let’s just say I’m going to put it in my back pocket along with crochet and knitting as part of my post-apocalyptic skill set.

Yes, there was alcohol involved

There the crux of it. In a month I head to the UK for International Summer School…my first (and hopefully not last) trip out of North America.

But, in the mean time, I’ll be here…knitting.
