People, especially people reading this on your phone, we need to have a talk. It’s not news that our phones have taken over our lives, making us crazy anxious zombies who desperately crawl from outlet to outlet. But I came across a headline this week that revealed the true desperateness of the situation…
“Uber riders are willing to pay up to 9.9x in surge pricing if their phone battery’s low”
This is a new low. I understand that in certain situations you may be desperate to not get stranded…but people survived before Uber…and even before cell phones…and I hear tell that people were even able to navigate their way home then.
And really, by the time you get to 9.9x surge pricing, just hail a cab. They do still exist, and will be less expensive than paying nearly ten times the standard Uber rate. Math, people. Math. Think it through.
This has been your friendly reminder that life does not begin and end with your phone. Look up and think.
