Have you ever heard of the phrase 'the camera never lies'? Well, that's not entirely true, for this wonderful Symondsbury wedding day could be thought, from these images, to be blessed with perfect weather! In fact... only half an hour before the outdoor ceremony in the grounds of the farm on the Symondsbury Estate in Dorset, the rainstorm outside was so bad that the gazebos had blown away and the marquee looked in danger of following suit! But, as in so many cases, these things have a way of working out... and by the time the bride was ready to step outside to walk to her intimate outdoor ceremony, watched by her closed family and friends, the weather looked... perfect.
The Symondsbury Estate is a truly perfect place to get married and I'm thrilled to have this almost on my doorstep in my home county of Dorset! This wedding was particularly special to me as it was conducted on such a intimate basis, which meant that I, as photographer, was able to capture it on an equally intimate basis in true documentary style throughout the day. Added to that, the location is SO beautiful, SO spectacular, that I defy anyone not to fall in love with the location, no matter what the weather!
So, on this fabulous wedding day in July, the bride was walked by her eldest son to the site of the ceremony, where her groom stood waiting amongst the wonderful scenery. The rain stayed away - hurray!. And they got married outside, just as they had planned when they had first visited Symondsbury, even though the registrars insisted on taking the signing of the register indoors just in case the rain changed its mind and returned!
I've previously blogged the bridal preparations at Symondsbury for this wedding day, which is well worth taking a look at for some real documentary images - not just of the bride getting ready, but of the whole wedding party. It's a treat to be able to photograph the entire preparations on a wedding morning, not just the bridal element, for it all comes together to tell a complete story of an unforgettable day for the whole family.
