…Take Action

…Take ActionWell, it’s here again. It’s that wonderful time of the cinematic year when we get to take a break from the highbrow films and just enjoy a few high energy, sometimes disappointing, but mostly satisfying, blockbusters. This summer/spring promises to be one doozy of a blockbuster season.

From this summer’s first contender, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” (which looks amazing) to the return of Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,”(cautiously optimistic) to another ride around the track in “Cars 3,”(could go either way) there’s no shortage of sequels. We’ll also get to take a detour from the male dominated superhero flicks with “Wonder Woman,” which we can only hope lives up to its trailers.

Despite it’s design to appeal to a large audience, it can sometimes take a little while to get into the summer blockbuster state of mind. So, to help you out, I thought I’d share some trailers from this season’s more promising films. While some of them may not live up to expectations, for now we can enjoy the sweet anticipation and hope for the best.

First up, there’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” which as the fifth installment in the series, has the odds firmly set against it. However, early screenings have been encouraging, and the fact that they lured Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley back could be a good sign.

The DC Comics universe needs a win, and it looks like they might have one with “Wonder Woman.”

While “Cars 2,” wasn’t the worst sequel ever, it wasn’t exactly Pixar at its finest. Here’s hoping they’ve learned some lessons.

Full disclosure, I’m a big fan of the relaunched “Planet of the Apes,” film series. If number three in the series keeps up the pace of the first two, well it should be a highlight of the summer.
