…Take One For The Team

20140615-191336-69216083.jpgToday will see the first game of the World Cup semifinal (4/3 CT). The two teams battling today — Germany & Brazil — are both favorites to win, so the game could go either way.

While it would be nice to think that the game will come down to skill, the fact is, as is the case with many a soccer match, it may come down to whichever team is the floppiest.

If you’re unfamiliar with that term, you obviously have not watched much soccer. While other sports have their fair share of faked injuries, soccer is infamous for their “flops.”

And who do you think is the floppiest of them all this World Cup? Well, that would be none other than host country, Brazil.

According to a tally kept by the Washington Post, the home team had a total of 17 “injuries” in the first two rounds. In each case the injured party was off the ground and back in play within 15 seconds of going down.

While Brazil will still actually have to play against Germany, this could be the “advantage” that gains them the victory.

Although, with their captain, and top player out, well, that’ll take a lot of flopping.
