The Contentment Challenge - The Beginning

I have been following Nancy Ray for quite a while. I have loved her for the simplistic living and being content with what you have and finding joy in the things we already have. Plus her faith is inspirational.  She has also blogged about and you can check it out her website for her contentment challenge or to the class. I really need to go back and watch it again because it is just that good.
We have been really trying to work on our finances and build up our savings account. I have really tried not to do not to it and have made every excuse not to do it but there is no reason for me not to do it. We have recently paid off our credit cards bill and some other debt. But naturally, I wanted more! We went on vacation and embarrassingly I spend more than I wanted.
Like I mentioned above I have wanted to do this for a while but not sure when. I mean when are you ready to completely give up shopping and purchasing things. But after these past few weeks, I have realized that the time is right now. So I am starting on September 1, 2018, and finishing November 30, 2018.
My Why: I have been feeling super anxious about a lot of things.I have been like life is running me and not me running my life. So on top of our spending, I wanted to do this challenge because I am hoping it will help with my anxiety.
According to her workbook, each month should be a theme.
September: Declutter
October: Gratitude
November: Intentional
Along with a theme should be verses to memorize
Overall Verses: Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourself treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
September: 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is a great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
October: Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God
November: 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness
Each month should have a task associated it as well. I am trying to keep each task and theme similar.
September: Declutter - deep clean our apartment.
October: Gratitude - Gratitude Journal
November: Intentional - Selecting Great over Good
