The Land Of Smiles Thailand

Posted on the 27 November 2015 by Vidyasury @vidyasury

A couple of decades ago, my sales team and I qualified for a trip to Pattaya in the Land of Smiles Thailand and we were super-excited. However, the trip didn't happen as the company decided to go on an expense cutting spree and instead of the highly anticipated all-expenses paid holiday, we just ended up with a cash incentive feeling just a little envious of the team that enjoyed the trip barely three months earlier.

I've always dreamed of traveling to Thailand. As one of the most favored vacation destinations in the world, it is on my must-see list. In recent years, the country has become an international connection platform for medical professionals as well.

So when our ethics committee received an email about the 17th International Conference on Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine in December 2015, we were thrilled. While I regret that I won't be able to make it, my medical professional colleagues will.

Land of Smiles Thailand

Thailand is one of the world's premier hubs, known for its resources and expertise in delivering first-rate health services. When Bangkok welcomes thousands of participants at this conference, this image will be reinforced. I am excited for my colleagues, as they will get the opportunity to explore some of the country's major tourist attractions when they are here for the conference.

This is a valuable platform for medical professionals involved in research and clinical trials, equipping them with the knowledge and latest happenings in the field. In particular, our ethics committee with benefit from this.

Just like the Mdsandbox, the 17th International Conference on Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (ICICEM), will focus on bringing together leading researchers, research scholars, and academic scientists. They will share and exchange their experiences and research results about various aspects of Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine.

It also offers the best interdisciplinary forum for practitioners, educators, and researchers to present and discuss the latest trends, innovations, concerns and practical challenges faced. Remedies adopted with regard to Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine will be discussed. The ICICEM 2015 also invites papers, e-posters, and abstracts that address topics and themes of the conference, including tables, figures, as well as references of novel research material.

Sigh. Just because I am not going this time, does not mean I can't make a virtual trip of Thailand.

What Can You Do while in Thailand?

See the post title? Land of Smiles Thailand is endowed with enthralling destinations and alluring enchantments. It is blessed with spectacular beaches, wildlife sanctuaries and parks, towering buildings, historical monuments, rich culture and traditions, exciting cities, modern bars and pubs, and bustling malls.

In addition, the country also exhibits the symphonic blend of culture, a pleasant climate, friendly people, world-class accommodation facilities, and a wide variety of delicacies to enjoy - enough to make Thailand one of the most sought-after tourist destinations across the globe today.

Key attractions include Bangkok City, Ayutthaya Historical Park, and Koi Samui Beach. I can imagine myself going back again after exploring this South East Asian Country, especially after listening to those who have visited here.

I'd been keen to see Bangkok's floating markets, spend time at the Buddha temples and wander around the beaches. I find the vibrant colors of the place, the monasteries, and most particularly the gigantic Buddha statues all over the place fascinating.

Thai cuisine is well-known worldwide for its fabulous blend of aquatic animals, herbs and plants. You can find all the five fundamental tastes - spice, sweet, salty, bitter, and sour. While sampling popular Thai foods you will find garlic, lime juice, lemon grass, fish sauce, and chillies as the common ingredients. Some of the dishes include Khao Phat, Kai Yang, Yam, Phat kaphrao, Green Curry, Som Tam, Khao Soi, Laap, Tom Yam, and Phat Tai. And there is plenty for vegetarians too! Quite exotic!

Thai Fruits

Thailand is a country whose vegetation is as lush as it gets. The variety of delicious fruits is mind-boggling.

Apart from the common fruits like pineapple, mango and watermelon, exotic fruits like mangosteen, durian, jackfruit, sapodilla, pomelo, rambutan, and salak fruit will excite your tastebuds.

The increasing number of medical conferences play an integral role of selling Thailand's unmatched tourist attractions that offer a fascinating blend of rich cultures and traditions, historical landmarks, serene beaches, and contemporary arts. This opens up opportunities to tap a wide pool of expertise and resources geared towards enhancing the country's global repute among health and medical specialists.

My colleagues who will attend the conference will have the time of their lives, exploring this beautiful country and experiencing its amazing cuisine and sights.

Perhaps my turn will come next year. Although, as my husband says, nothing to stop me from taking a holiday any time I want, right? Still, nothing like going with a bunch of friends!
