ENG. This is the first Christmas that my husband and I will be spending at home, and for the first time we wanted to have our own Christmas tree.
We knew of several places where we could go buy trees, cut and ready to go, but we were intrigued by a new service that is now being offered by several firms in Mexico. What they do is offer you to "rent" your tree for the season, and in January after the festivities are over, the same firm comes to your house to pick up the tree and takes it to a protected forest area to be planted again.
We thought it was great! Each year, over 2 million trees are cut off in Mexico for the Christmas season, just when they start growing up and producing more oxygen. And once Christmas is over, they go to the trash!
So we went ahead and picked up our planted, live tree, so we can take care of it for this month before it goes back to the forest to keep living. And the best part is that we get to go plant it ourselves!
Here's a picture of how it looks in our place :)
