To Third Wave Feminists –

Posted on the 28 February 2019 by Scribe Project @ascribeproject

Now coming into 2018, we see huge social shifts. From the spread of technology and social media raising the popularity of smart phones, smart watches and other smart devices. Social media is bigger than ever. With the average celebrity having millions of followers across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Almost everyone you know is on at least one of the above said applications.

Apart from posting pictures of leisurely outings or selfies, many individuals share posts to present their opinion on various things. From political thoughts to positive messages to boost morale and confidence a lot of content is uploaded.  With social media rising to be the ultimate platform for free speech and expression it’s clear to say everybody has an opinion about everything

Since the latter part of 2017 there has been a huge outcry starting in the United States to bring the perpetrators of sexual harassment to justice. Very prominent individuals within the multi-billion dollar Hollywood industry such as Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein stood accused for multiple charges of sexual harassment and inappropriate sexual conduct with quite a few prominent women coming forth. The fact that Donald Trump being elected the president, an individual that has in fact stated for the record multiple things that most women find incredibly #MeToo movements to demand justice for any and all victims of sexual predators and encourage those victims to break forth their silence and come forward.

That is indeed what happened, due to the support and prominence of these movements many individuals came forward, where many public figures such as politicians, actors, producers and businessmen were accused. As the world happens to be, whatever starts trending in the USA soon spreads around the world, wherever it could the awareness towards sexual harassment and rape increased drastically.

I’m more than sure than anyone reading this has come across the word ‘feminism’ or ‘feminist ‘. Some of you reading this may in fact consider yourselves to be feminists as well, while others may be completely disgusted and against the concept. But that’s fine, as I said anyone had a right to his or her opinion. One of the biggest problems in the world is when individuals start bandwagoning or blindly showing support to a cause. These bandwagoning feminists (I’m sure you’ve seen then somewhere or felt their social presence) tend to over exaggerate certain facts.

As of recent, you may have probably heard the name Brett Kavanagh. An individual who has been confirmed as a member of the US supreme court, who was also accused of raping a woman at a college party. I will not go into the depths of that as it is a study of its own but the result of this was the word ‘rape’ and ‘rapist’ being thrown around with these particular bandwagoning feminists taking aim at all men. You all probably have social media, you have probably seen what I’m talking about. If you haven’t a couple minutes of searching will provide enough and more content for you.

Is rape wrong? Yes.

Is it right to defend a rapist? Of course not.

I don’t deny the fact that there are actual rapists, and I would not see it any other way that they are harshly punished for their actions because those miserable animals deserve it.

There is no way an individual can ever justify rape, and being under the influence of alcohol or any other type of drug is not by any means am excuse for forcing oneself onto another human.

To Third Wave Feminists –

But there is definitely no ‘sane’ man on this green earth that wants to be a rapist. There is no ‘sane’ father that teaches his son to rape, there is no ‘sane’ friend that encourages another person to rape. And no ‘sane’ man defends a rapist. The simple rule in justice is ‘innocent until proven guilty’ not ‘guilty until proven innocent’. I’m not defending anyone but falsely accusing a ‘sane’ man of rape leaves a scar in that man’s life as well. You have all probably read rape stories right, so now go ahead and read some stories about falsely accused rapists, listen to their stories and see what hastiness and misjudgment does.

Power and responsibility come hand in hand, and power shouldn’t be blindly abused.

Look to your fathers, look to your brothers, look to your uncles, look to your partners, look to your closest male friends. Are they all rapists? Are they waiting to exploit you?

The world isn’t just potential rapists and potential rape victims, the world is men and women, raising families, telling stories and creating legacies.

It is argued that women should wear whatever they want to, and go where they want to. That’s fair enough but is it crazy to take your potential safety into consideration? Some may find my opinion amusing and may hate me for it because you are firm in your beliefs, thinking I’m the bad guy here. It’s unjustifiable to say that any one opinion is wrong and another is perfectly correct as everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.

Real feminists are those women who inspire little girls to grow up to be doctors, lawyers, engineers and whatever they want to be, show girls that having dark skin doesn’t make you ugly that black too is beautiful, be CEO’s and leaders, lead charities and fund millions to the under privileged and give more love and support to their spouses and children than they could ever imagine.

In 2018 is there a profession that a woman can’t get into? Aren’t there more than enough education opportunities for women? About half a century ago universal suffrage for women was considered revolutionary but those who are born within this millennium don’t even understand how hard it was to get the ability to vote for women.

The irony with all people is that achievement will always trail behind expectation, that the 10% or so that you have to get achieve is much revered over the 90% that has been achieved. One can only wonder what the world will be in another 50 years. Things will be different from now but yet it’s highly unlikely that satisfaction will be obtained. Without over imagining or complicating I will basically say this for now. Hard work, determination and passion and luck are said to lead an individual to success.  None of that is defined by your reproductive organs.
