Today, as many of us enjoy a three-day weekend, don’t forget to take a moment to think on the man who we commemorate today, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the ideals for which he fought.
In this past year, we’ve been reminded, in the most brutal and heartbreaking ways, of how far we have yet to go, but today I think it’s also important to we remember how far we’ve come. Yes, change is still ahead of us, but remembering our goodness is just as important as remembering the shortcomings of our society.
Kindness is at the heart of any solution, so be nice, and keep moving forward.
The road ahead is not altogether a smooth one. There are no broad highways that lead us easily and inevitably to quick solutions. But we must keep going.
