Our little sweetie pie is two weeks old! It is crazy how many things change in just a short period of time. Rilynn is more alert every day and can now stay awake 45 minutes to an hour at a time. At her appointment this week we found out she is 9 pounds and 1 ounce. She was down to 7 lbs 14 oz when we were discharged, so she is gaining weight at a good pace. I was most nervous about that because I wasn't sure how much milk she was getting from breastfeeding.
Rilynn also seems to have gotten a little bit of a diaper rash this week. Our doctor suggested lanolin, because it won't come off easily and should protect her bum. I was wondering if any of you had good suggestions? I was thinking of trying coconut oil since that is all natural and I have heard that it works.
My parents have been in town this week, so that has been nice. I know it will be a hard adjustment next week when all of our help is gone and Ryan is also back at work. I tried introducing a bottle to Rilynn to see if she would take it. She has done fine with a pacifier (she has a really strong sucking reflex) and our first shot at the bottle worked! She loved it. So I'll make the effort to try and give her a bottle once a day so she will continue taking them. Ryan's mom comes in town tonight so we will have a full house.
Besides that, things have been going great. Rilynn still sleeps pretty well at night and we are loving watching her change and grow with each new day. I am looking forward to breastfeeding becoming a little easier and I am curious to see how I do next week when I have her all alone at home by myself - send prayers my way! (:
