…Walk It Off

dirty-shoesCongratulations, everyone!  You’ve made it through another Monday.

This Monday, I’d like to give a special shout out to the weekend warriors.  You know who you are, but some out there might not, so allow me to explain.  

While study after study claims that regular exercise (meaning at least half an hour or so every day), the fact is, some just can’t work that into their hectic weekday schedules.  Not wanting to miss out on that valuable physical activity, they cram it all into a matter of two days…hence their title — weekend warrior.

They’ve long had to suffer with the somewhat unfair stigma associated with their level of activity; however it seems that science may be slowly coming over to their side…sort of.

According to a study published in the “American Journal of Epidemiology (*cough*…in 2004… *cough*), one to two workout sessions causes less damage to your health than doing absolutely nothing.

Okay, so maybe 10 years ago some researchers were kind-of sort-of contemplating the possibility of coming over to the side of the weekend warrior…but as someone who just ran 13.1 miles yesterday, and plans on taking a few days off, I need to know that those miles count for something.
