Wedding, Honeymoon, Ohio, & the Whole Crazy Thing

Posted on the 07 February 2013 by Alyssambirchfield @lyssmbirchfield

(This post was an update written while on our honeymoon a few weeks ago; and everything is still relevant! With that being said – enjoy!)

480709_466740363361530_600651038_nIt’s January 3, 2013. A new year, a new season, a new husband, with an impending transition to an entirely new life.

Craig and I are sitting here on the couch in our room in Gatlinburg, TN in front of the fireplace giggling, joking, with our feet propped against one another as I write this post. We have been blessed with an incredible wedding (pictures soon to come), and now an incredible honeymoon because of the CRAZY awesome generosity of our loved ones.

Before arriving here in Tennessee this past Tuesday, we spent a few days in Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA – the pictures above that I’ve shared are from a few of our adventures during those few days.

I’ve now been a married woman, a wife to a wonderful man for six whole days, and I can tell you that already, everything is different – and most certainly for the better. Craig and I are blessed so immensely by both those around us and God Himself. Seriously. We are still in constant awe of how generous you all have been, and how much God loves us.

As we’re spending the last few days of our honeymoon relaxing here in Gatlinburg, the new, incoming season of our lives – a move across the country to Dover, Ohio – has been a topic of conversation, nervousness, and excitement. For those of you that do not know, after much prayer, discussion, and counsel, Craig has accepted a position as video producer at NewPointe Community Church, and we have made the decision to make the cross country treck! Our new church community that we will be joining has been welcoming us with open arms, something we are SO grateful for in the midst of the exciting unknown we’ll be diving into as young newlyweds.

397576_466827033352863_591943091_nI know I’m a few days late for the whole new year reflection thing, but as I look back on 2012 with fondness, I could have never imagined just how God would move. The place that I find myself in is nothing short of miraculous and a work of His hands. While 2012 was a year of struggles and trials, it was also a year full of blessings, grace, and abounding love.

And so as Craig and I look forward to the season ahead, thanking God for all that He’s done and is faithful to continue doing, our hearts are swelling with joy, excitement, and thirst for the adventure God is calling us on.

Yes, dear friends, our God is great, and He is faithful.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20

With love,
A.
