What If You Could Turn Your “If Only” to “Yes I Can”

What if you could turn your “If only” to “Yes I can”"But we can't afford the fee now" "I really want to do it. There's an opportunity for a wonderful part-time job!"

Sigh. As you might have guessed, that didn't happen, of course. The savings we had was earmarked for a number of things, the most important being a medical emergency, should that arise.

Regrets are perhaps the worst possible things in life. The phrase "if only..." rules a lot of situations that could have been different if only we had that little extra cash/help/support. The difference would have made all the... you guessed it... difference. Sometimes we even believe that it might have changed the course of our lives forever.

Take for instance the Spanish course I was referring to. I was desperate to do it during a time when we were struggling to increase our income. One might argue that if I was really keen I could have made it happen, but life doesn't always work out that way. We are afraid to take the risk.

What if there had been an unexpected windfall, from say, my insurance policy at the right time, enabling me enroll for that course?

Eventually I did manage to do the course, but how it happened is a post for another day. Let me just say the decision wasn't entirely easy.

In the meantime, we continue to have things on our wishlist that might come true if only we could spare that extra cash without feeling nervous or guilty about spending. We are always wary about dipping into our savings, thanks to the cost of living, and an inherent dislike for getting into debt.

Just recently, as my son's summer vacation approached, we were talking about various possibilities for his compulsory summer internship. There was an "if only" moment when we wished he could do it with someone who was an expert in that topic - the catch being that he lived overseas.

Then there was the time when he qualified in a particular contest to go to the next level, but didn't because the entrance fee was a little hefty.

Another instance is that educational summer camp that was a tad overpriced - but we would have considered it if we had had the money to spare.

An exciting school summer trip to places on the wish-list, but unaffordable because of the cost.

We allow so many missed opportunities to pile up for want of that extra cash.

What if there were an income topup? Just like one might suddenly become eligible for that "extra" mobile recharge that took us just a little bit further or the 20%/30% extra benefit of the same product?

Wouldn't life become so much more enjoyable and fulfilling? Imagine the joy and happiness that would follow.

There is a way. You can turn your "if only..." to "yes I can"

  • To send your child to summer camp
  • To pay the qualifying fee to get to the next class
  • To do that online course that will boost your marketability
  • To enroll for that cookery course to help you start your home business
  • To make that trip you always wanted to

Don't let a small financial hiccup stop you from achieving your dreams!
