What is Your Pendulum? #WednesdayWisdom

Do you often wish to have that one little nudge-that tiny drop in the bucket-that will make all the difference in getting you all fired up?

But first, you want to know how this relates to the question, what is your pendulum, right?

So-I live with this excruciating shoulder pain. My doc gave me painkillers that resulted in frequent trips to the loo. I've seen a few doctors, have even checked in with Dr. Google. My orthopedic did mention I might have to get a nerve conductivity test done, but of course I've been putting it off. Then, the physiotherapist who used to treat my Mom suggested the pendulum exercise. All I had to do was let my arm hang loose and swing it like a pendulum. I didn't really believe her, but then I trust her, so what was the harm trying it?

Considering how this pain has been interfering with my routine, I was game. She also suggested a couple of other things to go with the pendulum exercise but this was the non-negotiable.

The one thing that made all the difference-the deal-breaker.

Got me thinking.

Actually, when we are overwhelmed with work or other stuff and wonder how we're ever going to even make a dent-never mind getting to the finishing point-what if there was one thing that we could do, that would encourage us to keep going to make this possible?

My Mom would totally agree with this-in fact, she managed to change my entire attitude with a loving mug of coffee!

So, not surprising that for everything that's freaking us out, there's always something that can turn that frown upside down-and help us keep moving cheerfully!

I found that my day was better when I followed the exercise regimen, especially the pendulum exercise.

What is your pendulum, then?

If you get stuck with something, why not reach out to someone close to you and ask what's that one little thing you could do to feel better about what you're dealing with?

Tough phase at work? How about reminding yourself about your initial passion when you took on your project? Step back, pause, relax and then go ahead with renewed vigor.

Sometimes, something as simple as drinking a large glass of water, taking a deep breath and sitting quietly for five minutes can do the trick.

Maybe take a look at the way you're currently doing things-and make changes? Set a timer for each task and feel the joy of completion, with zero distractions?

This can apply to anything you have been planning to do but putting off-and maybe even complaining about. Find that one thing-your pendulum-that can put the spark back in you to get back to your task.

What is it that can make you feel better?

What is your pendulum?

What's your motivation?

#WednesdayWisdom is a series with short bursts of easy-to-consume wisdom in the form of stories, quotes, anecdotes, and humor.
