Where Is Your Happy Place?

Posted on the 22 September 2017 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairy

If you're a long term reader of this blog, then you'll probably know that I often refer to Disneyland Paris as my ultimate happy place.
I don't know what it is about Disneyland Paris-maybe it's the feeling of being inside a little bubble away from the stresses of the real world, or maybe it's the smell of fresh popcorn as you walk down main street towards Sleeping Beauty's Castle-But whatever it is as soon as I step inside the gates I feel instantly relaxed and happy.
Unfortunately, as Disneyland Paris can be quite expensive, it's not somewhere I can go to all that often and lately I've been thinking about where my happy laces are here in the UK.
Where Is Your Happy Place?
1. Eating ice cream on the beach at St. Ives.
I love the pretty coastal towns of Cornwall, and St. Ives with it's winding streets and pretty bunting is possibly my favorite one of all. During our visit last year the boys and I loved just sitting at the harbourside enjoying one of the super indulgent ice creams from Just Deserts.
The Ferraro Rocher Ice Cream in particular can even be topped with fresh cream-On a sunny day in Cornwall, life doesn't get much better.

2. Stepping back in time in Blackpool.
This might seem a bit of an unusual inclusion in a list of happy places-as I'm aware Blackpool doesn't have the best reputation these days, a fact which put me off visiting with my children for quite a while-But when we finally visited last Summer, I had one of the best fun filled family weekends ever!
What I love the most about Blackpool is that everything is just as I remember it from my childhood-The amusement arcades, the piers, even the rides at the Pleasure Beach, all of my favourites from back in the day are still there and there's something really special about watching your own child enjoying all of the things you used to love.

3. There's no place like home.
I'm sure most people would say their own hometown is among their UK happy places, and I'm no different. If ever I am asked where I think is the best place in the UK, or even the world for that matter, my answer would always be Liverpool. It may not be apparent to most people, but Liverpool is a rich and vibrant city with so much to do for all ages and interests, I also believe it is one of the friendliest places in the world-With hundreds of stunning boutique city center hotels to choose from, or even serviced apartments in Manchester nearby, Liverpool is well worth a visit.
The infographic below shows what the people of the UK list as their own happy places here at home.
