Kirsten SimsKirsten Sims is a talented painter, visual artist, designer and illustrator who currently lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. Kirsten received her BA in Applied Design (Specialising in Illustration) from the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography in 2011.  In 2014 she went back to being a student and completed an Honours degree in Illustration at the Stellenbosch University. Sims defines her style as theatrical and exaggerated, she uses a variety of techniques; acrylic, gouache and ink. “There is more than enough pain and darkness in the world, I feel it deeply. Sometimes humor is the only way to deal with big, scary, horrible things,” she explains.

At the moment I divide my time between having exhibitions of my personal work, doing commercial illustration and making children's picture books.

Kirsten's paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries, and her debut picturebook was published in 2016 by Orfeu Negro in Portugal.
