Who Wears the Pants Around Here?

Who wears the pants in a relationship?

Here is a joke that I was told before I got married:

who wears the pantsOn Fred’s wedding he took off his pants and handed them to his bride, Wilma and said, “Here, try these on.”
So, she did and said: “These are too big, I can’t wear them.’”
So Fred said: “Exactly. I wear the pants in this family and I always will, and I don’t want you to ever forget that.”
Then Wilma removed her pants, handed them to Fred and said: “Here, you try on mine.”
He tried and said: “I can’t get into your pants.”
So she said: “Exactly. And if you don’t change your attitude, you never will.”

Does that mean that Wilma is the boss in the relationship? Not really, it means that Fred has attitude issues. A marriage is a compromise, or at least successful ones are.

Does it really matter who is the boss? I will, very often, do what my wife wants, not because she is right, not because I agree or anything like that. I will do it, because doing it is easier than picking an argument. If you and your wife have an argument, you will soon forget all about it and consider it over and done with, but will your wife? Is it worth it to you? Is it not easier to finish a sentence with, “Yes, dear!” Kill Me Now!

“A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do and a man’s got to do what his wife tells him to.”~Lawrence Fisher

A marriage is a partnership. Take the best of what you both have to offer. People, as far as letting her control you is concerned, no one can control you unless you let them!  It is called give and take and compromise. Oh, by the way, forget about who wears the pants. It is irrelevant!
