Why I Love The Winter.....*

Around this time of year, I find myself often having to explain my reasons for disliking the summer... People seem to think I'm a bit of an oddball when I tell them that summer is actually my least-favourite of all the seasons (I'm sure there must be a more adult way of putting that than "least favourite"....I feel like a five year old....)... I have never been somebody who enjoys sun bathing - much to the dismay of my mother, who literally sits by the outdoor pool on holiday in Torquay on CHRISTMAS DAY - and comes in insisting that she has a sun tan (No mother, its called frostbite....) I just find the whole sun lounging thing very boring - I can force myself to do it for an hour or so while listening to music, but that's my limit - I feel on edge all the time, worried about insects landing on me or wasps stinging me - I want to be able to read but NO sunbathing position is ever comfortable for reading....It's just no fun. Plus I don't tan - I am extremely pasty and my skin refuses to go brown. It just goes lobster red, peels and goes right back to white again. I also hate the unpredictable weather in the summer - yes summer dresses are pretty but it is almost impossible to know when to buy them in this country! You simply cannot predict when the sunshine might come out to play... Add to this my hatred of sticky sun lotion, beaches, and everything else summer related and you can see why it's not my favorite time of year... But WINTER I adore! Again, people are often mystified by this but I don't understand why Winter isn't everybodys favorite season.... I love the snow and although its rare, when we do get it I am in heaven - it is just so beautiful and who doesn't love an excuse not to go to work?! I love the smell of the air outside in winter, I love the look of the bare trees, I love the excitement in the air in December and the hustle bustle as everybody gets ready for Christmas, I love seeing the lights everywhere - I ADORE Christmas and New Year themselves. I'm quite excited that this year we will have a real fire to be able to use in the Winter - something I've never had before!  I can't think of anything more relaxing or romantic than snuggling up in front of a cosy fire at home, reading a good book - a MUCH better alternative to sunbathing if you ask me! Of course if you don't have the real thing at home, you can visit online store Fireplace Megastore who have a Great range of gas stoves to choose from! I am SO excited for Christmas this year as its Tyne's first one - yes he'll only be 9 months old but I am planning on taking him to Santa's grotto regardless and I can't wait to see him opening his gifts on Christmas morning! Even winter fashions are my favorite....big snuggly jumpers and comfortable boots .... no need to flash the flesh so indulging in all the hot chocolate with marshmallows I want!
