Writing Challenge: the Devil is in the Details

Posted on the 22 January 2013 by Eternallydeniedsoul

My work-desk which i use now is quite different from the early ones. Earlier when i was at home,i usually studied on the bed,as it was more comforting or i chose the sofa. But as i moved on from home, the comfort region was gone, everything changed and so did my lifestyle. Now living in a professional life i made myself a work-desk.

It all began 4 years ago, with a plastic chair and a simple wooden table, they were cheap but durable. At first i started placing my books and usual college items on it. It was well lit by a fluorescent tube above, and a wide window at one side. In the daytime, sunlight entered via the window and used to scatter around my books and stationary. After few months i bought my PC,and thus i needed another table for it. So now i had two tables side by side, one with the PC and the other  with books and all. The PC added a new dimension to my work-desk,as it became more compelling and interesting. Now i spend more time on my work-desk than on the bed.

As time passed,i began decorating the place. I had put numerous posters and various art-collectibles to it`s surroundings. Gradually,i was addicted to my work-desk,i used to eat on it,sleep on it. The best part was when i got bored of writing or studying,i just looked out of the window. Down the window was a street, and many houses across it. There was always something interesting going on outside the window. I saw people rushing to work, children`s hopping to and fro from school. I saw preety girls swaying by,and all of these used to lighten my mood. At late evenings,i put on some of my favorite songs, Beatles or symphonies of Mozart ,and used to get lost in my deepest thoughts.
