Parveen Shakir was a prominent women Urdu ghazal writer (shayara). Her ghazals and shayari are from women's point of few and talks about love, lover, feminism, betrayal, romanticism ,etc from the point of view of girl/women. I read this love ghazal of her after encountering a Sher from it and than decided to translate it. ज़िंदगी बे-साएबाँ बे-घर कहीं ऐसी न थी,आसमाँ ऐसा नहीं था और ज़मीं ऐसी न थी। Zindagi Be-Saaeban Be-Ghar Kahin Aisi Na Thi,Aasman Aisa Nahin Tha Aur Zamin Aisi Na Thi.
Nowhere life was roofless,homeless like that,
Neither was sky nor was land like that.
हम बिछड़ने से हुए गुमराह वर्ना इस से क़ब्ल,मेरा दामन तर न था तेरी जबीं ऐसी न थी। Hum Bichadne Se Hue Gumrah Warna Is Se Qabl,Mera Daman Tar Na Tha Teri Jabin Aisi Na Thi.
We were lost by separation else before that
my cloth's end was not wet, your forehead was not like that.
अब जो बदला है तो अपनी रूह तक हैरान हूँ, तेरी जानिब से मैं शायद बे-यक़ीं ऐसी न थी। Ab Jo Badla Hai To Apni Rooh Tak Hairaan Hun,Teri Janib Se Mein Shayad Be-Yakin Aisi Na Thi.
I am shocked to my soul now when you have changed,
I was not unbelieving towards you like that.
बद-गुमानी जब न थी तू भी नहीं था मो'तरिज़, मैं भी तेरी शख़्सियत पर नुक्ता-चीं ऐसी न थी। Bad-Ghumani Jab Na Thi Tu Bhi Nahin Tha Mo'tariz,Mein Bhi Teri Shaksiyat Par Nukhta-chin Aisi Na Thi.
There was no mistrust when you wasn't objector,
like that on your personality I too wasn't detractor.
क्या मिरे दिल और क्या आँखों का हिस्सा है मगर, चादर-ए-शब इस से पहले शबनमीं ऐसी न थी। Kya Mire Dil Aur Kya Aankhon Ka Hissa Hai Magar,Chadar-ae-Shab Is Se Pehle Shabnami Aisi Na Thi.
What is the part of my heart and what is of my eyes but
the night sky before this was not gorgeous like that stood.
क्या हवा आई कि इतने फूल दिल में खिल गए,पिछले मौसम में ये शाख़-ए-यासमीं ऐसी न थी। Kya Hawa Aai Ki Itne Phool Dil Mein Khil Gaye,Pichle Mausam Mein Ye Shaakh-ae-Yasmin Aisi Na Thi.
Which wind came & blossomed as much flowers in my heart,
In the last season this jasmine branch was not like that start.
