1 Interview, 5 Truths, 1 Lie

Posted on the 22 November 2013 by Rarasaur @rarasaur

Beautiful Suzie asked me to partake in a lovely blogger interview series, open to everyone.  Here are her 7 questions and my 7 answers.

You should play, too.  Just link up to: http://suzie81.wordpress.com/2013/11/20/questions-questions-questions-tell-me-about-you/

1. Why have you chosen your blog name?

I’ve written an in-depth post about this that you can find here, complete with the full comic that my gravatar is cropped from– but mostly it’s because I was going through a moment in my life where I didn’t identify with any of my other names.  I didn’t intend for this blog to have any readers, so it didn’t occur to me to pick a topical name or something punny.  It only made sense, at the time, that my blog name should be eponymous.

One thing I haven’t mentioned before is that the tagline came from the misreading of a Coldwater Creek catalog.

2. When you have an hour of free-time, what do you do?

I don’t really know how to answer this.  I don’t see any of my time as free time, but I also see all of it as free time.  The only planned-time event on my schedule is my 9-5 job.  Outside of that, I do what I want.  This includes (in no particular order): blogging, reading, taking long baths, watching lots of television, cooking, researching math theories, shopping for my family, playing with my cats, playing video games with my husband, having long windy conversations with my husband, playing board games, creating things, browsing the internet, playing with social media, having tea with friends, google chatting with far away friends, and supporting local artisanship.

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what would it be?

I’m not certain I’ve reached that age yet.

4. If you could learn to do something, what would it be?

I am planning on learning how to sew French Cuff or button-down shirts.

Money, money, monnnneeey!

5. What would be the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?

Maybe a sugar-free slurpee, since I’d be at 7-11 anyway.  Maybe a cup of coffee.  Probably both, because– why not splurge? I just won the lottery!

6. What is the thing that makes you absolutely unique?

Every single day makes me unique.  Every day that I wake up– my perceptions filtered through my own loves and fears– I am one-of-a-kind.  Perhaps there are those who share some glimpses of my world, but the sun shines on no one exactly like me.

7. What is your favorite blog?

This was difficult.  I struggle with the word “favorite”, so I was going to make several lists of all possible interpretations of the word.  Dear friends I’ve made here, blogs that impress me, blogs that make me up my game, blogs that I go to for inspiration or ideas, bloggers who write things that inspire me, bloggers who write things that make me laugh, bloggers who write things I’ve never read, bloggers who can make me want to read about something I don’t really usually read about, bloggers I can count on for personal advice, and bloggers who do so much more than write.  When looking at my lists, though, I realized that one blogger is on all of the lists.

She is amongst the first I started loyally reading, and has never ceased to amaze me with her strength and internal beauty.  Yes, I am talking about none other than FishOfGold.

A favorite must be picked, but please keep in mind– even if you aren’t Goldy, I probably love you, too.

5 Truths and a Lie

The fabulous Jen started this game in the ‘sphere and it was too fun to not play.  So, just to finish out yet another post that is all about me, here are 5 truths and a lie.  If you guess right, I’ll write a haiku about you in December.  Since this whole post has a lovely bunch of numbers in it, I decided to go with truths (and a lie) with fun numbers in them.

  1. 30 different men have proposed marriage to me, with a ring offering to boot.
  2. I have owned 27 cats.  None were Siamese or all black.
  3. I have been slapped 14 times. All by women.
  4. I’ve fallen into 3 ditches, and was stuck in each one for at least an hour.
  5. I’ve attended 18 universities, colleges, and community colleges.
  6. I currently own 10 paperback books, and zero hardcover books.

Do you enjoy Slurpees? I never drank the strange things till Dave introduced me to them in our early relationship.  Do you enjoy a good long bath or do you feel like you’re making dirty-body-soup as one of my dear friends calls it?
