10 ways to make Mugs an Exciting Gift
Mugs are a lovely gift for people of all ages, but if they’re presented on their own, they can appear a little boring. However, they’re a great personal gift, are generally reasonably priced and can be picked up from almost anywhere these days.
Therefore, as we think mugs are such a great present, we’ve compiled a list of things you can do to transform this nice but simple gift into something much sweeter.
1. Create a hot chocolate pack
Possibly one of the best accompaniments to any mug is a luxurious hot chocolate pack, complete with cocoa powder, mini marshmallows, cream, chocolate sprinkles and a mini whisk.
2. Make a photo-upload mug and fill it with other snaps
Photo mugs are a lovely present as they add an instant, personal element and are guaranteed to put a smile on your loved one’s face every time they enjoy a cuppa. Fill it with spare Polaroid’s for extra appeal.
3. Turn it into a ‘winter survival’ kit
A great choice to help your friends get through the cold months is to arm them with a survival kit; fill a mug with honey, lemon, herbal tea, tissues and throat sweets to help them feel up to scratch.
4. Fill it with alcoholic miniatures
No one said mugs had to be just for tea and coffee. In fact, filling a big mug with miniatures is a great, alternative mug based gift and will ensure your recipient has a very merry birthday!
5. Fill it with little versions of things they love

Similar to the one above, but with little versions of other things they love, such as mini Soap and Glory products, snack-size versions of their favorite chocolates and travel sized versions of their favorite shampoo and conditioner.
6. Add a gift card to their favorite coffee shop
Everyone loves grabbing a coffee or tea when they’re on the go and need a pick-me-up, so why not provide them with that pleasure? Fill a mug with coffee beans surrounding a gift card to their favorite coffee shop.
7. Purchase a ‘mug cosy’ for it, and put something in the mug to keep them cosy
Mug cosy’s are a lovely addition to any mug, and are also great for avoiding burning your hands. If you purchase one of these, why not buy something to keep them warm too? Gloves or a scarf make a nice addition to a mug gift.
8. Make a cake and pop it in
If you value your baking skills, a cake or a muffin in a mug is a really sweet idea. Use their favorite flavours to make them something they’re guaranteed to love.
9. Fill it with a variety of flavoured tea bags
Help them to be more adventurous with their tea by filling their new mug with a variety of flavoured tea bags. Companies like Twinings sell a range of tea ‘selection boxes’ to make this even easier for you.
10. Put a voucher in it for an afternoon tea date
