100 / By Threat of Leprechaun

“Why does the Ouija Board scare everyone?” I asked my uncle.  “Because it’s black magic?  Because it’s like giggling in the devil’s ear?  Is future-reading really like stealing from my own intuition?”

“Nothing so sinister,” my uncle explained. “It’s just– if the Leprechaun catch you playing with magic, they’ll play tricks on you. First, you’ll see floating dots in the sunlight. Then, color behind your eyelids. Then, nightmares in the day.”

I gasped. “I already see the first two but I didn’t do anything!”

“Oh no,” he grimaced. “They’ve got you forever now, poor girl.
Best not make it worse.”

I’ve never played with a Ouija Board… just in case, but this version made me laugh.

As I age, I find more and more people who can see the dots in the light and color behind their lids. I suppose we’ve all been caught out by Leprechaun, eh?

Did you play with Ouija boards as a kid, or even now?

(The uncle in this story is also the uncle from The Person Who Remembers.)
