Can I just say, that my favorite part of any vacation is packing for it?  Its true, I love packing for vacation.  I hate unpacking once I get home, and I put it off for as long as possible.  But even though I’m not leaving for Vegas until Wednesday, I have had to make a concerned effort to not start packing.

I like to have things done.  I don’t like having things hovering over my head, looking on the horizon needing to be finished.  It’s a bad feeling I say!  That is why it has been such an effort for me to hold off packing for my trip.  If I started now all the clothes would get wrinkled in my little carry on, and then where would I be!?

I think packing is my favorite part of the trip because it means you can really get excited.  If you’re packing then the trip must be close, and its time to get excited-yay! And I love getting excited!  Your adventure is just starting and you have so much to look forward to.

Packing also stresses me out.  I HAVE TOO MANY CLOTHES TO CHOOSE FROM!!! What if its warm? What if its cold?  What if weather.com is lying to me and even though it says its going to be 70s and sunny there will really be a torrential downpour the whole time? What if I’m having an ugly day and the things I pack don’t look good on me? What if I meet a celebrity and Ollie and I get asked back to their place for an after party and I have nothing fabulous to wear?IT IS TOO MUCH FOR A GIRL TO TAKE I SAY.

So, even though its too soon for me to start packing (although I am counting down the hours until Tuesday night when I can start-I’ve even considered doing a “trial pack” to make sure everything fits) I’ve decided to make the process a bit easier for my self.  I am finally getting rid of all the clothes in my closet that I never wear (and crossing #2 off my list!) And heads up, there is a lot of them.

When I started this project I made the promise to myself to get rid of anything that I haven’t worn in 3 months (if it wasn’t weather appropriate then it was spared).  And let me tell you, I was disgusted by the amount of clothing I held on to that I NEVER WEAR!

I was brutal during this process.  I showed no mercy to my favorite long sleeve with the hole in the right shoulder.  I didn’t look twice at my favorite dress from college that was now way to short to be appropriate.

Once and article of clothing was in the pile, it was not allowed to come back out.  And I stuck to that (well except for one or two items-but I really really liked those!).  The pile of clothes on my floor was absolutely overwhelming. I couldn’t believe they had all fit in my closet before.

*The embarrassing pile of clothes I eradicated from my closet*

And the really sick thing? MY CLOSET IS STILL FULL OF CLOTHES!!! How have I amassed so much stuff in my short 24 years?  Ugh.  Now, I love my clothes.  And I hate to let them go, but it felt so good to get rid of all of it!  SO GOOD.  It was cleansing, and I felt lighter.  The feeling was so good it even motivated me to clean out the trunk of my car-although that wasn’t as successful-I basically just moved it from the trunk to the backseat.

I highly suggest that everybody reading this post go clean out your closet!  You will be so glad you did!  Get rid of some of the extra clutter in your life-you don’t need it, and it will make packing for your next adventure that much easier!

Thanks for reading! xo Whitney
