2 Days of Fun

As I sit at this red light on my way home I realize that Operation: Do Whatever I Want Over the Next Two Days is now in process. We had a smooth shift at the station. Wednesday is yard day and it's always easier once you go out there and get it done than you feel it's gonna be when you walk in. Made a few medical calls, put out a big pile of brush someone set on fire in front of their house, had pizza for dinner, and made the typical 1 am ghetto call at Club XS. Now with that 24 hours behind me I have 48 hours to do with as i please. Sort of. I really need to mow my yard. I'm thinking work out, yard, bike ride, cash a couple checks, and then whatever i want. Let's see if i can stay on schedule for once.

1:55 pm, Thursday

So far so good. Lawn. Done. Workout got skipped but I had a really good reason. (I'm starving). So B&J;'s it is. I think I'm addicted to their lunch special. Personal pizza, 4 toppings, drink, and it's like 7 dollars and change. Where they get me is their magnetic bar. Well it's magnetic to me. "Hey, Eric.. Let me know when you want a Guinness." I think I'm gonna be here awhile.

3:00 pm, Thursday

Slight change of plans. Cove it is. The only thing more magnetic than B&J;'s bar is a bar with a daily import special. I loves me some imports. I'll hang out here for a bit with my girl Tiffany till around 4:30. Maybe head home for a bit. Hector gets out of work around 5:30. Meet up with him at the next destination. Sounds like a plan. Operation: Do Whatever I Want is going smoothly.

7:00 pm, Thursday

Yeeeeaaahhhh I never left The Cove. When Tiffany left at 4:45 I figured, "Why leave a great special like this?" So I didn't. Plus by the time Tiffany left I had already made friends outside on the patio and the Guinness that Nia the cool bartender handed me was way too delicious. Hector's here now. I put in some music on the jukebox for free since the bill taker dealio isn't working and it's Tom Petty, Audioslave, Alice In Chains, Third Eye Blind and Smashing Pumpkins to be the soundtrack to our lives for the next hour.

8:00 pm, Thursday

Jack Ash's it is. I almost forgot it's pint night. $2 draft. 26 to choose from. Thank god for high tolerance and happy birthday to me. For not having been here regularly on Thursdays like we used to, we walk in and it's like we never left. Just about every time we come here we see friends from Roger's epic house parties and tonight was no different. Hector had challenged this dude named Sergio to a shotgunning duel at one of those epic parties and this guy on like the third or fourth attempt after nothing but lightning fast ties had managed to beat Hector. I don't really remember how it even came up, but before I know it I'm holding the camera.
I guess "Wooowww" and "Heyyy" is all my brain could send out after seeing that. That's our buddy Brayden showing his skills tying with Hector. (Sergio's glass is that last one that drops that you don't really even notice. His skills didn't really show up this time). No idea how they can do that so fast. Not sure what time it was when I left but holy crap what an impromptu day of fun. You'd think I'd be worn out but that's why I'm paid the big bucks to be a professional. Thursday has become Friday and I did say it was Operation: Do Whatever I Want Over the Next Two Days did I not? I did. So let's continue.

2:00 pm, Friday

It's official. "My name is Eric Cantu and I have a problem. I'm addicted to the B&J;'s lunch special." (It also may have something to do with me liking the girl at the register but that's neither here nor there). Either way, I'm enjoying a delicious hot, fresh pizza and it's all for me.
I got a chance to talk to the sweet innocence that my girl is behind the register for awhile, telling of my last night's adventures. She has a boyfriend but my sources (her coworkers) tell me that I need to save her from that loser. My friends there at B&J;'s are the best. "Hey, did you see Eric the firefighter out there? He's kinda cute right?" Slowly Jedi Mindtricking her into my waiting arms. I could've sat and had a couple Guinnesses there at B&J;'s but a power stronger than myself was drawing me elsewhere. I'm just glad I listened.

3:00 pm - 12:30 am, Friday/Saturday

I distinctly remember thinking to myself as I walked into Politics, "it's a chill Friday afternoon.. I never really go out to have a beer by myself.. Ah, screw it. It's nice out. I'll have a couple of beers here and chill." Wow. I ended up having a great friggin night that kept getting better and better.. and better.. and better. I probably should've known this was gonna be a fun night when I saw the bartender. Cute girl. Button up men's dress shirt. No pants. I didn't even notice it right away until my second beer. This girl is Tom Cruise in Risky Business. Wait what day is it? Holy Crap tonight is gonna be their big blowout Halloween party. I need backup.
My easy afternoon turned into hours of fun with great friends and good times. Before I knew it, backup had arrived and all I could remember thinking was "It keeps getting BETTER." Alex from B&J;'s, Maldonado, Sprunger, Jeanie, Krystal, Jerry, Nick my Captain, Big John.. We all had a blast. Some friends stopped in for a quick couple of drinks, while others stayed the whole night. Life was good.

My personal fave. Fun with Panorama. Notice the bookends.

Good times had by all and now it's Saturday at the station. The weather is awesome out, and I get to ride around with lights and sirens in the big red truck until tomorrow morning and its SUNDAY FUNDAY amd another two days off. I'll try to take it slower.

That's the plan ;)
