2012 Highlights

The lovely Grace over at With Some Grace decided to have a special link up for her weekly Flog Your Blog Friday, this week. We thought it was a wonderful idea, and as we love linking up with her, we decided to join in.

2012 Highlights

So here are the highlights of our year here at Melting Moments.

January:

Kaz and I were currently discussing the idea of starting a blog together, about our journey as new parents and all that it entailed. We had many back and forth discussions trying to decide on a name for our blog, and we began to get excited as we talked about our ideas.

February:

On the 22nd of February, Melting Moments was born. Our first post, a recipe that has become a favourite over the last year, Easy Zucchini Slice.

On the 18th of February, B1 and B2 made the 1 year mark, and we celebrated their milestone with a lovely party in the park with all our family and friends. I also celebrated my 31st birthday on the same day, though that paled in significance.

March:

Kaz posted about Surviving the hospital, surviving pregnancy, and surviving the early weeks of parenthood. While I wrote about surviving hospital and the special care nursery and surviving breastfeeding twins. Dora tried out some Zucchini and Sweet Corn Pikletes, and I talked about how much I loved my mums group.

The lovely Dora celebrated her 1st birthday party, on a lovely day with all her friends.

2012 Highlights

April:

Come April, I gave some ideas on Things To Do With Toddlers, on Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyleand the went through a First Birthday Party Checklist. Kaz posted about her experience with the First Birthday Party and Cake, the pro’s and con’s of a routine, and Entertaining Babies and Toddlers.

Easter was upon us, and we had a great time as I learned how to Survive The Easter Show With Twins. We  also made some yummy Cauliflower, Pea and Corn Fritters and Crumb Coated Veggies.

2012 Highlights

May:

May bought with it our 2nd ever Mothers Day.

Kaz shared with us her tips for taking better photos of your kids, and organising Dora’s Puzzle and Lego Sets. She tried some Cheesy Eggy Bread, and told us about some great slow cooked meals,Slow Cooked Normandy Chicken, and Slow Cooked Mexican Chicken.

I told you The Top 10 Wishes I have For My Children, all about my sisters Lolly Buffet Baby Shower, and my experiences visiting the Pregnancy, Babies and Children’s Expo. B1 and B2 tried out someMixed Berry Pancakes.

We had our first guest post from the lovely Hayley, on her experience of Life With a Premmie Baby.

It was also a month of firsts for us with our first ever linky party, Sunday Sweeties, our first Wordless Wednesday, and every Monday we started telling you about our Melting Moments of the previous week.

2012 Highlights

June:

Winter was now upon us, and our urge to cook and try new recipes to warm our bellies grew.

I gave Potato and Spinach Frittata, Spaghetti and Vegetable Muffins, and Easy Peasy Creamy Chicken a go. While Kaz told us about her Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks and Kumera Mash.

I also told you about the wonderful cuddles I had with my new niece, had a Laundry Makeoveradding some wonderful new shelves, and I discussed the contents of The Nappy Bag.

Kaz revealed to us the 5 Bad Habits she’s gained since becoming a mum and told us about her top tips for getting your Photo’s Off Your Hard Drive and Into Your Home.

We were also nominated for our first award, The Leibster Award.

2012 Highlights

July:

I made some Easy Oven Baked Meatballs and some delicious Baked Potato With Spinach and Cheese Filling. Kaz found a few great recipes for me to try, Baked Bean Pinwheels and Broccoli Bites, and she also told us about two wonderful recipes she tried out herself, Thai Inspired Pumpkin Soupand Tropical Chicken Sausage Curry.

I reviewed the amazing Toddler Tints, which I bought at the expo, and we had a great day at thePlay School Concert. I made some Laundry Wall Art that I was pretty proud of, and I also took part in my first ever fun run, pushing the twins along in the double pram as hubby, myself and my brother ran the Sutherland To Surf.

Kaz and Dora had their first play with play dough and Kaz shared with us the wonderful No Cook Play Dough Recipe. Kaz also told us her tips for Taking better photos and videos with your phone and showed how she transformed her Dad’s Old Wheel Burrow. She was also lucky enough to go on a family cruise and told us all about her experiences with the Ergo Baby Carrier.

2012 Highlights

August:

My recipes this month included Mince and Vegetable Pasties, Cheese and Vegimite and Cheese and Bacon Scrolls, Egg Muffins, Pork and Apple Balls, Banana and Peanut butter Wraps, and Bread Quiche. B1 and B2 had their First Play Dough Experience, and I found myself Up to my ankles in water, when we had a mini flood in our unit.

Kaz told us about a fav recipe in her house,Tuna Morney. Shared her mums famous Sausage Rollsrecipe and Daddy’s Baby Bircher. She tried out some Apple and Custard Muffins as well as someStrawberry and Honey Muffins and had her first attempt at Macarons. She also informed us of a wonderful social bookmarking site she found, Delicious, and a recipe app she was in love with calledPepperplate.

We had our next few guest posts, Remembering Jaqueline and Saving The Strog, by the lovely Sophie.

We did a product review of Haviannas Kids new range and we started our new link up, Fly On By Fridays.

2012 Highlights

September:

B1 and B2 got there craft on (with my help), and we made some Salt Dough Foot Imprints. In the kitchen this month I tried out some Muffin Pan Meatloaf, Breakfast Burritos and Apricot Chicken.

Kaz reflected on R U OK? Day. She also made some fabulous Toddler Sized Pizzas.

We were nominated for our second Leibster Award.

2012 Highlights

October:

After the Rugby League grand final in September, I reflected on the Grand Final Memories, I had from my past. B1 and B2 enjoyed some Blackboard Fun, and I made a Hair Accessory Frame for B1′s hair things, as well as some Pretty Girls T-shirts. I also got creative in the kitchen and made some Wholemeal Pumpkin, Cinnamon and Cranberry Rock Cakes.

I found a great free iPhone app, Tinybeans, that I fell in love with.

Kaz cooked some Banana and Blueberry Bread, some Golden Banana Mini Muffins and with the help of Dora, some Yoghurt Tub Cake. She shared her Corn and Carrot Fritters and Mini Ham and Pea Frittatas, and talked about the new territory of Toddlerhood. She also revealed Dora’s newplayroom.

2012 Highlights

November:

On the first day of this new month Kaz cooked up some Banana Blueberry Weetbix Muffins, and some Chicken San Choy Bau. She also got her style on when she discovered birdsnest.com.au.

We had a guest post from the author of Drive Me To Distraction, Cailtyn Nicholas, which I reviewedlater in the month after a great read.

I tackled the controversial topic of Nurture vs Nature. Then I searched for some itchy bite relief when I got a few extremely annoying bites. I also tried my hand at making some Pancake Bites.

In my longest and most meaningful post to date I talked about taking part in the Leukaemia Foundations Light The Night, and two very brave people shared their personal stories of their battles with cancer. Thank you again Lisa and Shannon.

2012 Highlights

December:

Here we are in December. Can you believe it? Christmas is upon us. Are you as excited as I am?

So far this month:

Kaz and Dora made their own Banana Popsicles. And Kaz reviewed the Dettol Touch of Foam Handwash.

I cooked up some Bubble and Squeak and with the help of B1 and B2, made some Salt Dough Christmas Tree Decorations.

Getting closer to the arrival of Santa, Dora helped Kaz write out their Christmas cards, and Kaz made some delicious sounding Christmas Shortbread Bites.

Kaz and I have shared our Christmas Wishlists, and with so much joy around we felt we couldn’t keep going without acknowledging the heartbreaking school shooting that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, USA.

Kaz recently shared her creation, Curried Chicken Pita, in her quest to find some make ahead lunch ideas. My latest cooking efforts, some Pork and Apple Rolls, which I am happy to say were inhaled by B1 and B2 for lunch.

2012 Highlights

It has been an amazing year. We have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of creating and writing our little blog. We want to thank every single one of our readers and subscribers, whether you visit regularly or just pop in now and then, we love having you here.

The daily countdown to Christmas is on and before we know it, the year will be waving goodbye.
