This year has been very different for us all (to say the least) and the majority of us are now spending a great more deal at home than usual. Today is the last day of the school term for my boys for a week and usually I would be booking in days out and activities to keep the boys enterainted during their week off, but for this Halloween half term with the rise in coronavirus cases again I think we're going to be spending most of the time at home with a few autumnual walks thrown in there too.
I know a lot of parents will be in the exact same boat with their children at home for a week and the prospect of a lot less days out booked in than normal. And so a week ago I sat and made a long list of some ideas of things that we could do with the boys from home to make sure this half term is just as fun as the others and I thought I would share the list of ideas for anyone else who is currenty looking for some inspiration for the halloween half term at home!
1. Pumpkin carving
2. Oreo spider cookies - To make these you just need Oreo cookies, red strawberry laces, icing tubes/pens and choclate chips for the eyes.
3. Halloween baking (even if it's just from a shop bought cupcake mix box).
4. Autumn walks
5. National Trust pumpkin/Halloween trails
6. Halloween themed kitchen disco - dress up, lights off, glow sticks (glow sticks are only £1 for a pack at poundland currently).
7. A spooky halloween bath! Glow sticks in the bath look super cool.
8. Lego names - help you little ones make the letters of their name out of their lego bricks. This is a fun activity and also makes for a nice display for their room.
9. A visit to a pumpkin patch.
10. Conker collecting.
11. Autumn leaf hedgehogs. Search 'Leaf hedgehogs free printable' online and print at home and then collect pretty leaves with your little ones and glue them on to make the hedgehogs.
12. Autumn/Halloween crafts - Pinterest is full of easy, fun to do themed crafts for kids.
13. Halloween/Autumn inspired book shelf - Change up your little ones book shelves. Remember you don't have to buy new books, the library often have themed sections for this time of year and the books are totally free to borrow.
14. Movie afternoon with popcorn!
15. Jigsaw puzzle challenge.
16. Carpet picnic with your little ones favorite teddies and toys.
17. Halloween themed bingo - You can print out free printables for this here.
18. Make your own Halloween bunting!
19. Halloween afternoon tea at home!
20. Make handprint halloween cards.
21. Halloween hide and seek - If you're not taking your little ones trick or treaing this year then a treasure hunt or hide and seek where you hide sweets around the house or the garden could be a lot of fun!
