There’s a lot of stuff I’m looking forward to once baby arrives, in so many ways.
I look forward to …
… people to stop asking me how I feel. Really, I feel the same everyday, and asking me everyday is getting old. Mostly it’s just coworkers making conversation. It’s like pregnancy has made me a beacon for small talk; “How are you feeling?” “How far along are you now?” “You’re getting bigger!” Yes, yes – I feel fine, all things considered, I’m a week further along than the last time you asked, and thanks for noticing how closer to being the size of a house I’ve become.
… being comfortable. I still have a few months to go, but I’m already tired of not being comfortable. If it’s not my hips, it my lower back that’s hurting. If my sinuses aren’t killing me it’s allergies. If it’s not laying awake and not being able to fall asleep, it’s wanting to nap all afternoon. I really miss taking sinus and pain meds, sleeping pills and allergy remedies! I know it makes me sound like a big ol’ pill popper, but being able to find relief is something I really look forward to.
… my body to stop doing weird things. I know some things will continue on into post-pregnancy (like leaky boobs – don’t even get me started on those), but I’m already so over them. I really didn’t want my boobs to get bigger, but they did. I also look forward to not having heartburn, because it’s so uncomfortable, and feeling like I have to pee every 5 minutes. Seriously – it gets old, and I’m sure my family is tired of hearing me go, “Oh, gotta pee!”
… not wanting to eat everything in sight. At first I was happy to have an appetite again after not being able to eat properly during my first trimester, but it’s starting to get ridiculous. I’m CONSTANTLY hungry, and have been eating way too much garbage food to satisfy my cravings. I’ve been trying to eat healthier foods by drinking smoothies and fruit, but when I crave junk food, it’s too easy to cave. I just have to keep reminding myself that the more crap I eat, the more my chances are of developing gestational diabetes. No fun!
… having baby be here already! Of course I wouldn’t leave that one out! Despite all my pissing and moaning about pregnancy, Kyle and I can’t wait for our little girl to arrive. In just a few short months we’ll be a family of three, which is hard to believe! We’re both so excited to be parents, despite any challenges that are to come.
Now, onto your regular programming:
How far along? 25 Weeks!
How big is baby? She’s about 13.5″ long and approximately 1.5lbs , according to BabyCentre.ca.
Total weight gain/loss: About a week ago I weighed about 130lbs. I have my doctor’s appointment on Thursday, so that will give me a better idea of how much I’ve gained.
Maternity Clothes? I’m starting to consider buying some spring/summery clothes since it’s finally starting to get warm! (Yay spring!) A friend pointed out to me how unfair it is that Old Navy’s Canadian online store doesn’t have their maternity line, only the US store, and the US store doesn’t ship to Canada. Boo! So not fair, because they’re so much cheaper than the specialty maternity stores here.
Stretch marks? None, none, none!
Sleep: What sleep? The past couple nights I’ve slept like absolute garbage. I don’t know if it’s because it’s getting warmer, but I can’ get comfortable, I wake up sweating to death, and the heartburn – on the heartburn! It’s horrid. Baby better have lots of hair when she pops out!
Movement: Tons! This past week it seems like she hasn’t stopped moving around, it’s almost annoying! And I think she’s discovered my ribs too. Hello, human xylophone!
Food cravings: Ice cream, and anything I smell/see on TV that looks good.
What I miss: If for whatever reason you scrolled past what I wrote above, go back and read it.
What I am looking forward to: Shopping with the in-laws in a couple weeks! My MIL wants to take Kyle and I shopped for furniture and what not, so I’m game! We’re definitely getting a glider (OMG WANT ONE SO MUCH!) and I’m not sure what else. We’ll see!
Milestones: We got a couple of really cute baby outfits from family members. My aunt was up visiting and bought a 3-6mth outfit, and my grandpa bought us a really cute newborn outfit. In all honestly, my grandma was gearing up to go baby shopping, but then she fell ill and it never happened. Knowing how much my grandma was looking forward to shopping, my grandpa went and bought the outfit all on his own, showed it to my grandma, she “OK’d” it, and he gave it to me the other day. My grandpa is an amazing man! Here’s a pic of the two outfits:
My grandpa's pick on the left, my aunt's on the right!
