Clearly the organisers read my post last year and organised the several thousand cyclists to start in waves. Much better.

Four-fifths of the contingent all ready to go.

Not far out of Drumpellier we had our first incident. Janet had her bike clipped by another cyclist causing her to take a tumble and bend a critical bit of bike as well as collecting a few bruises.

PfS efficiently took her off to get it mended and back on the road.

At Linlithgow where the non cycling members of the family loyally turned up for some cheerleading, a choir assembled themselves for our entertainment.

In the queue for the loo I overheard a comment about the women who'd bemoaned the lack of loo paper.

"What's wrong with some folk? Have they not heard of dripping?"

In the outskirts of Edinburgh I was struck by another incident. Peddling through leafy Barnton, my back tire suddenly - and loudly - went bang leaving the wheel rim shredded too. On the up side the wheel was too badly damaged to even open the spare inner tube to see if I'd bought the right one.

Luckily Supersister rang her missus who leaped to the rescue bringing her bike for me to borrow and taking the broken one away. Thanks A.

Eventually onward to Murrayfield and to claim our medals for covering 47 miles.

Boy Two reckoned he was a little weary.

We made it.

Kind of sums up the feeling at the end of the Fresh n Lo Pedal for Scotland. Anyone up for doing an udder one?
