The bigger Boys are engrossed in books at the moment - a fairly unusual state of affairs in this digital age.
But what's more remarkable is what they've chosen to read. Proper books, both of them. I'm delighted but I am tempering my glee with affected disinterest in case they realize they are doing something I entirely approve of and act with predictable contrariness.
Boy One is ploughing through The Hunger Games and Boy Two and his classmates are 'doing' The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. I'm spending lots of time not launching into discussions about female protagonists or the impact of war on children. Instead I'm asking 'how's the book?' with an expectant look on my face. Often.
