3 Reasons for Your Hair Loss After a Hairstyle

Posted on the 24 September 2015 by Thandi @sassymissy
Well first of all I'm clearly guilty of all three. Its actually the reason why I decided to write this post. I did neglect my scalp and did it tighter than I should have, and then proceeded to comb away straight after. Lesson learned. Don't make my mistake!!! Sorry dear hair, shall take better care of you from now on.

Okay so now that the confession is done....
3 reasons for  hair loss after a hairstyle
1. Dry ScalpNot moisturising your actual hair/scalp while the hairstyle was on. Adding moisture by spraying water  unto the scalp for any hairstyle were the scalp is visible helps keep the scalp from drying. Otherwise using a water based moisturizer at least once a week is recommended. When the scalp is dry and hair is also dry, it becomes brittle and easily breaks off. This is especially worse in the hairline area. Hence people loose their hairline after a protective hairstyle! So keep this area especially moist.
2. Doing hairstyles too tightAfter a couple of hours, painful bumps start appearing on your scalp. When those bumps dry out, the hair in that area begins to break and eventually comes right off when you take out the protective hairstyle and comb your hair.
3. Combing hair straight after taking out a hairstyle Hair is already soft and fragile from all the pulling so combing it straight after is not a great idea.  It is best to use a detangle spray (View "Easiest detangle spray recipe") generously and leave hair to soak. Section the hair into smaller portions then finger detangle before gently combing while holding the bottom end of the section.
Horrible hair loss saga anyone else?
Let me end with a happy selfie, or two!
