Washington D.C is our nation’s capital, so it should come as no surprise that the city is full of amazing features and sights. Millions of people flock to D.C every year, primarily to take in the beauty of the city. There’s just so many sights to see in Washington D.C, something that really sets the area apart from other American cities. So why is Washington D.C such a popular tourist destination, and what makes sightseeing in the nation’s capital so unique? Here are three reasons why you should sightsee in Washington D.C.


History

Although it wasn’t the original capital of the United States, D.C has been the nation’s capital for a considerable amount of time. Due to this, there is lots of history behind the city, history that can be explored through sightseeing. There are plenty of places where you can find American history prevalent in D.C, including famous monuments like the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial. These places honor some of the most important figures in American history and are fantastic sights to see. If that’s not enough history for you, then there’s plenty of history museums to visit through the Smithsonian. If you’re someone who’s into American history or simply wants to experience more of it, then you definitely need to sightsee in Washington D.C. 


Politics

Another reason why you should sightsee in Washington D.C is due to the political value the city has to the country. Washington D.C is the capital of the United States, and due to this much of the nation’s federal politics takes place there. There is a large amount of educational value to be gained out of sightseeing in D.C, and most of it stems from politics. In D.C you can see the headquarters for all three federal branches, including the U.S Capitol Building, The White House, and The Supreme Court. At all of these locations you are able to sightsee and tour through the facilities, picking up valuable knowledge about our nation’s politics along the way. Although it may not be something many people want to learn about, knowledge of politics is extremely valuable and there’s no better way to learn about it than touring and sightseeing through D.C. 


Architecture

One thing you’ll definitely notice if you ever close on one of the Washington D.C  houses for sale is that the city has an extremely unique architectural design. Some of the monuments and museums in the city are among the most beautifully sculpted monuments in the country. The National Mall and Lincoln Memorial are among some of the designs and architecture that are truly unique and gorgeous. There are so many amazing sights to see in the nation’s capital, sights that are not only pretty to look at, but also honor a key part in our nation’s history. Seeing these architectural wonders can truly be breathtaking sometimes, which is just one of the many reasons why you should go sightseeing in Washington D.C.
