3rd Part Time Job and I

Posted on the 05 July 2013 by Kimeetay @Kimee_Tay

Howdy readers! Guess what? I got a job ツ Here’s the story.

On Wednesday, I passed by Famous Amos, Cheras Leisure Mall (LM) and noticed that there was vacancy for part timers. I immediately submitted my application form on the spot. LOL. That evening, I received a phone call from Miss Aini (the supervisor, I guess) to attend a brief interview at 3 pm on Friday.

On Thursday, Eu Joe ajak me to have lunch at Bear Paw, Cheras Leisure Mall. Since I am already going to go to LM so I thought okay lah, eat lunch with her in LM. After lunch in Bear Paw, I walked around LM for a bit. We passed by this electronics store called Switch and saw a vacancy for part timers. Eu Joe asked me to check it out so I went in and enquire. Again, I immediately filled in the application form and handed it to them. Haha.

I told them I would be back in at most 1 hour and headed off to Famous Amos for my interview. The interview went fine ツ Miss Aini was a really nice lady and the other girl that worked there, Ayu was also really nice, always smiley miley one. LOL. Famous Amos is offering RM 4.50 per hour and the dress code is strictly black pants and black shoes. I told them that I had another interview to attend at an electronics store at the other side, barely 100 metres away, and that I’ll get back to them whether I accept the offer or otherwise.

And so I headed back to Switch. It’s actually a double storey store. I went upstairs with the supervisor for the interview. The supervisor’s name is Lucas Pang. Know what, he didn’t introduce himself until after the interview I asked for his name. LOL. During the interview, Lucas went through my application form and asked a few simple questions based on my application form. The first tricky part was when he asked me to introduce myself.

And in no particular order, I babbled random stuff about myself that comes to my mind at that moment. Super unprofessional, I so gotta improve on that. The second tricky part was when he asked if I or any of my family members have any Apple products.  The first thought that came into my mind was ‘NO’, but then I remembered that Tiff the Big Sis has an iPad and Ryu the BIL uses an iPhone!

To be honest, I had no idea that Switch was a reseller of Apple products until the moment he asked me during the interview. Yalah! The Apple symbol so big at the signboard also I didn’t notice. I only noticed the tiny ‘We R Hiring’ sign. LOL. Next he asked what is your favorite app and I went ‘erm… games’ I was actually thinking calender or planner cause it helps with our daily life but it isn’t exactly and app that someone downloads (cause it comes with the phone?) so I said games. Cause I love playing games ツ Come to think of it, I should have said Instagram cause I love viewing and sharing photos!

Then he asked what kind of games do you play. After giving some thought, I said puzzles. And then, a question I totally didn’t expect – What puzzle game do you play? Alright, the latest game I have been playing is Minion Rush. I sort of play games by trend or if people suggest it to me – Candy Crush, Battle Cats, Little Commander, Subway Surfer, Temple Run, Temple Run 2 etc. And I only play games only when I really have nothing else in the world to do. LOL.

But I told him I like to play puzzle games and thank God Unblock Me came to my mind! Unblock Me – one of the oldest and most classic game around. I got to know of Unblock Me a few years back I think, played it on Mom’s colleague’s iPad. That was about it the interview. To me, the last few questions were kinda tricky. Haha. Switch is offering RM 5 per hour and if you work 80 hours in one month, you get a raise of 50 cents in the following month which means RM 5.50 per hour. I thought this way of salary was pretty awesome. It’s like the harder you work, the more you get. Fair enough. Dress code for switch is much more flexible – jeans and any kind of shoes allowed except slippers.

Obviously the job offer at Switch is better. I love Famous Amos but it’s not going to provide me much experience. At Switch, I have to engage with customers in which I can improve on my communication skills ツ I am starting on Sunday! Can’t wait. The other staff there seems nice and friendly so I hope I’ll have a great time working there! Oh and here’s a fun fact. Switchers (the staffs who work at Switch) get to watch any Pixar movies for free courtesy of Apple ツ

Another mini story of the day. This morning, I woke up at 6.30 am drove to KLCC just to meet Isaac Chan – my friend, my junior, hardcore debater. We were suppose to meet at Starbucks at 8.30 am. Guess what? He arrived at 9.10 am because he forgot to mop the floor. Haha. I swear I was about to leave when it was 9 am but luckily he called. LOL. It was great catching up with him cause I haven’t seen him for at least one and a half years but we talked like we just met each other yesterday.

I love those kind of friends where even if I haven’t talk to them for a very long time, the next time I get to talk to them it doesn’t get awkward or what not. I just love those friends. We only spent like 1 hour to talk because I had to go home to pick Jon the Bro. If only Isaac came earlier. Haha. Isaac has girl problems. *evil laughter*

That’s all for today. I am a Switcher now. Wish me luck ツ
