4 Ways to Beat Negativity with a Stick!

Posted on the 15 January 2013 by Mikidemann @mikidemann
One of my New Years Resolutions was to start being positive all the time. One of the reasons that I am so attracted to Jared is because no matter what happens you cannot get that man down. He will stay positive even if the Doctor told him he was going to lose his leg. 4 ways to beat negativity with a stick!
I used to get annoyed when I would call Jared because I was down, and he would tell me how to turn the situation around. I wanted to sulk, and I wanted him to feel badly for me. In fact, when I'd get down I wanted any sympathy I could get.
I like to think that most of the time I am a really positive person, but I have my flaws. One is that when I get "set off" I really have a hard time letting go or flipping the situation. I am not sure why that is, but I have come up with a few things that really help me.
1. When I feel myself getting negative. I have to stop and realize what the "trigger" was for me. Why did I turn the situation negative? I have found this really helpful because without realizing your negative triggers, you can't stop them. Which means you'll always have negative aspects.
2. Take a moment and breathe. If your at home, leave the room, take a walk, take a bath. If your at work.. ride the elevator, go the the bathroom, take your lunch. I know it sounds silly, but when I start being negative if I don't take a breather, I'll stay negative. If I do take a breather then I can turn things around.
3. Remind myself that there are 2 ways to handle ANYTHING. Either positively or negatively. Then I dissect each option and CHOOSE the positive way.
4. Call your sexy husband... or anyone sexy. That'll put a smile on your face!4 ways to beat negativity with a stick!
I have an app on my phone called Daily Affirmations. Every day it has 1 positive thought for you. I love this app. I make a point to read the thought right when I wake up. It helps me!
What are your suggestions? What keeps your positivity at an all time high?
