5 Clever Storage Ideas for your Home
Storage is one of the big challenges experienced by many families. Not having enough space to store everything can result in clutter and even chaos. Clutter has a bad habit of growing and spilling over from room to room and a cluttered house is much harder to keep clean and tidy.
Here are 5 clever storage ideas to help you and your family get on top of the clutter in your home.

Clever Furniture

One of the best ideas when it comes to creating storage spaces is to buy furniture that includes inbuilt storage capacity. There is some really clever furniture on the market. Coffee tables and ottomans can be used to store blankets, magazines and even the kids’ toys. Having storage in your living area will help you to keep it tidy too. Another great piece of furniture to assist with storage are beds with drawers built in underneath. The area under beds is rarely used, except by the kids to play hide and seek, so why not invest in a bed with built-in drawers or purchase storage boxes that will fit under your bed area. This area is really good for storing winter clothe out of season. Super Amart has a great range of attractive and inexpensive furniture to help with your storage needs.

Behind Closed Doors

This is a space few of us consider for storage, but in many cases behind the door shelves can be added to create a raft of new space. Simply build a set of shells and mount them onto the wall space that sits behind the open door. To calculate the depth of the shelves, measure between the door hinge and the wall and subtract 2.5cm. You might like to add a rubber strip to the shelving frame to protect the door.

Closet Nooks

Don’t waste those hard to get at places in your wardrobe; those bits at each end that are generally pretty useless. Measure the size of the space and find some shelving to fit. You can buy ready-made shelving or some mounting brackets and create your own. Another great idea is to buy some shower hooks and use these to hang bags and belts in your closet. Just place the hook on the hanging rod in your wardrobe.

Doubling Up

You can quite simply double the space in your wardrobe by the addition of an extra shelf in the top of your wardrobe. You can also consider adding an extra hanging rod half way down your closet to double your hanging space. This works particularly well if you have higher than average ceilings. Just pop a small footstool into the bottom of the wardrobe to help you reach up.

More Bathroom Space

Bathrooms often lack adequate storage place. This problem can be solved with a little imagination. Add a tempered glass shelf above your bathtub and you suddenly have space for towels and all those messy shampoo bottles. Secure the shelf with a cable shelf bracket.
