Cosmetic surgery is becoming more and more popular in the UK. With advancements in techniques and the range of procedures expanding, there is now a complete array of options available to people looking to improve their appearance. But with such a large choice of procedures and a seemingly endless supply of different companies and surgeons all claiming to be your perfect choice; how can you ensure you are choosing the best surgeon for you? Before undertaking any kind of cosmetic procedure you should give serious thought to what it is you about your appearance you want to change and what results to you desire. Knowing exactly what you want will help you to find a surgeon who can help you to achieve your goals. You should also think about the reasons behind why you want surgery in the first place. Are you doing it for the right reasons? Is surgery really the best option? Research, research, research
A good place to start is to get a recommendation from your GP. Make sure any surgeon you are considering is on the appropriate register with the GMC. Any fully qualified surgeon will be registered specialist register for Plastic Surgery. Check out your chosen surgeon’s experience when it comes to the procedure you are considering.  Check the surgeon’s track record
Ask for a portfolio of previous cosmetic procedures your chosen surgeon has completed. Seeing their previous work will help to give you an idea whether or not they are capable of giving you the results you desire. You can also research your surgeons past history and discover if they have had any complaints made against them or been subject to any disciplinary action. Finding either of these should set off the red flags. Ask the right questions
It is always a good idea to have a thoroughconsolation with your surgeon before deciding to go ahead with surgery. Make a list of questions before your meeting and take it with your to ensure you don’t forget anything. It’s important that you feel confident with your surgeon and are able to get across your wishes. Make sure the surgeon listens to you and understands what it is you want to achieve. A good plastic surgeon will explain the procedure, recovery and expected results in full. If at any time you don’t feel comfortable or confident with your surgeon, then leave.  Have another good think
Take a little cooling-off period after your initial consultation. Give yourself time to think about what your surgeon said and how they made you feel. Are you sure this is what you want now that you know all the facts? Is this definitely the surgeon you can trust your body to? Don’t let time sensitive discounts or offers affect your decision. If you have any doubts about the procedure or surgeon it is not too late to call it off.
