During the
winter, many of us choose to bunk down in our homes, keeping warm and cosy and
doing our best to stave off the cold seasonal chill and freezing temperatures
outside.
However, with the winter comes
the infamous January blues – how can we go about reducing their impact and
guaranteeing a fabulous feeling all year round?
The solution
is simple – book yourself onto a UK staycation this winter!
While it may
be quite a different experience to that of a summer getaway, holidaying during
the winter months brings a whole new atmosphere. Swap out your summer clothes
for winter coats and boots, and prepare for an unforgettable break right here
in the UK this winter.
Convenience
As a general
rule, holidaying in the UK is much less hassle than everything that must be
considered when you travel abroad. It’s convenient, it’s easy and it’s much
less of a headache than having to get passports in order and book flights! Even
if you don’t want to stray far from home, there are plenty of exciting places to visit and
things to do and see
right on your doorstep. Why not take the opportunity to explore some of them
this winter?
Budget-Friendly
At this time
of year, the indulgence and extravagance of the festive period can cause many
of us to get concerned about our spending – especially after a look at our bank
balance! However, a holiday doesn’t have to be lavish or break the bank; it’s
just as possible to have a great time while sticking to a strict budget. Do
plenty of research and set yourself a budget to stick to before you travel in
order to avoid the temptation to overspend. Finding a cheap hotel near Nottingham
during winter, for
example, should be much easier during the off-season than during the peak
summer months. It’s also possible to find countryside walks and free
attractions to really work on cutting those costs!
Child-Friendly
Holidaying
with children can be a bit of a headache, especially if they’re overexcited
from the seasonal festivities. Instead of lugging your little ones on a plane
or having to pack up all their brand new Christmas presents because they can’t
decide which one to bring, a staycation can make a sensible alternative and
will keep the whole family happy. If you are traveling with the little ones in
tow, don’t forget to pack everything they
might need, plus all
the additional spare clothing and essentials just in case. Similarly, it might
be a sensible idea to research child-friendly attractions in and around the
area where you are staying before you travel just in case you need a quick way
to stave off boredom on a rainy day.
Perfect for a Short Break
While those
long, hazy summer breaks might be nothing but a distant memory, when the
weather is harsher and the temperatures plummeting, a short break can make a
much more sensible option compared to several weeks away. Similarly, sometimes
all you need is a long weekend to refresh yourself and ensure you’re ready for
everything the New Year has to throw at you!
A Fresh Perspective
We are all
familiar with the sights and sounds of the country during summer and the warmer
months of the year, but in winter, things are completely different. Offering a
unique outlook and a brand new perspective on places both new and familiar, a
staycation is a great way for everyone to discover something new together.
At the end of
the day, choosing to holiday during the winter might not be for everyone.
However, there are undeniably many benefits to heading out in the colder months
– this year, it might just be time to give it a go!
