5min Coffee Break with Bo...

Posted on the 07 November 2012 by Boberika @boberika

This week I interviewed actress Celeste Wong from New Zealand, who starred in 'My Wedding and other secrets', a witty cross-cultural romantic comedy which won the Audience Choice Award for Best International Narrative Feature at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival (USA). Celeste is an up and coming actress living in the UK and below is her latest project, where she plays both good and evil. This talented actress is one to keep an eye on and this short film by Chris Turner is visual brilliance with a mysteriously profound and dark tone.

When did you know you first wanted to become an actor? I always wanted to entertain, sing and play out parts from my favorite movies when I was a child - but I didn't realize it could be a possibility until I moved to Australia. I was working as an 'extra' on set and saw the lead actors doing their thing and thought: "This is fascinating! I want to do that!"

What was your inspiration or reason why you choose to be part of the clip? I wanted to be apart of this project because I really wanted to work with the director Christopher Turner who has such brilliant ideas and concepts yet is so open to hearing and interpreting my own thoughts. He is able to translate unconventional concepts into relatable, beautiful stories with truth, even though there are elements of fantasy. The opportunity came to work with him when I was going through a rough time and it just felt right. I really felt that I could contribute to the project in many ways because I was experiencing and seeing ideas from a different  perspective, which made me fiercely creative and brave. Inspiration came from my scrutiny of the darkness and the goodness in life and within myself. It was scary but also really exciting to explore. What's the best part about being an actor? Being able to learn about people - people I play, people I work with, people I've never met, researching, being inspired and learning about myself too. I love the costume and fashion element too. I love how wearing different clothes and looks and make you feel. I find both the actual process and the movie business as a whole, fascinating.

If you were a biscuit what would you be? I'd be the New Zealand biscuit Tim Tams. A yummy soft creme-chocolate center protected by an exterior of two hard slabs of crunchy biscuit, enveloped by a delectable chocolate coating. An intense biscuit but goes well with an equally good cuppa and as time goes on there are more flavours available. Many creative and fun ways to devour, and you're always in for a treat!

Thanks for the chat Celeste, love your work and can't wait to see you in your next exciting project! Bo x
