6 Achievements Your Baby Will Have in Their First Year

Your baby’s first year can undoubtedly be the most daunting, but also the most incredible at the same time! While there may be a lack of sleep and emotional stress present in the household, there is also going to be laughter, celebrations, and, most importantly, lots and lots of love.

In this article, we are going to take a look at six achievements that your baby will have in their first year! Interested? Then keep on reading!

First teeth

When it comes to teething, the process can be different for every baby. However, usually, it occurs around six months to twelve years of age. During this time, they will most likely be very clingy, cranky and might have trouble eating solids. To help ease the pain, purchase some teething toys, or try letting them gnaw on a clean cold washcloth. Your doctor or chemist might also recommend medication that you can rub on the sore areas.

First words

Your baby’s first words are undoubtedly one moment that you will want to remember and hopefully catch on film! After six months, you may begin to hear them almost putting together a word. By nine months, they will be able to understand simple terms, and by twelve, they should be able to say simple words and understand requests. However, it’s important to remember that every child is different, and can take longer or shorter to start speaking.

Sitting

When your baby turns around six months old, they will usually start to be able to sit themselves up! While there will be a few tumbles here and there, after a while, they will have had it mastered! From here, they will be able to see more comfortably, reach for toys, and enjoy playing games such as peek-a-boo!

Crawling

Once your baby has mastered sitting, it won’t be long before they learn how to hop on all fours and start crawling! This is where you will definitely need to start baby-proofing the house! Soon they will be into everything and may start gaining a little bit more independence. You might find that they are happier to play by themselves, but they will most certainly tire themselves out during the day!

Standing

Once your baby has hit the twelve-month mark, they may be able to start standing by themselves and pull themselves up on furniture! While they may not have mastered walking just yet, it won’t be long before they work up the courage to let themselves go! It’s certainly amazing to see how much they can grow in such a small amount of time.

Independence

Lastly, one achievement that can be overlooked but should indeed be celebrated is your baby’s growing independence. While they still need you to take care of them, you may find that they are able to do specific tasks on their own. These are all the little things that you should celebrate! However, it can undoubtedly be overwhelming, so you might want to take a look at these tips to avoid parental burnout. This way, you can keep enjoying all of these special moments and remember them for the rest of your life.
