A Blog About Blogs!

Posted on the 07 June 2012 by Rajrupa @irajrupa
"Blogging? What is that?" Was my first reaction when I first heard about it. That was in 2003 may be! I was doing my engineering then! SS laughed at my bewildered look pitying my ineptitude!
Since then 6 years have passed (Oh no! I have become so old!) and even ignorant like me also now knows what blogging means! Blogging is wonderful. Its definitely a mean of communicating across your social boundary. An attempt to find like minded people across the globe and that too without much effort! I felt thrilled when a man from Netherlands read and left a comment on my First Blog! That was back in 2006! Right after I got my first job offer!
A long time has passed since then. Gallons of water have flown under the bridge. Blogging became too commonplace. So much so that now every half second one new blog is posted in any of the blogging sites around the world. Wekipedia tells me! Phew! That's hugely insane! Don't you think? One would think the whole world have gone crazy with crammed thoughts in their heads jostling with each other waiting to be put into a blog or the other, betting among themselves which one amongst them would be prioritized to be put onto papers...oops blogs! There is even a Blog Day! Thirty-first of August that is, because it looks like “Blog” when you write the date as “3108”!  :O
Once I stumbled upon a job applicant's blog (?!?) who put her entire CV onto the blog and asked people who were following her blog or came across accidentally to refer her to their respective Employers! Now that’s innovative! Or the girl who whined about her best friend not giving her the guitar to play! Or the guy in navy who posted snaps of his debut voyage on his Blog!
Blogging is like latest fashion. Its all about doing what everyone is doing! You must do it if you wish your inclusion in the group where smarter blokes dwell, even at the cost of making yourself look stupid in front of all.
On the other hand there are so many people out there trying to do something meaningful. I have found and used many technical solutions I was looking for in one or the other blog. I am particularly fond of Sandeepa’s blog Bong Moms Cook Book. It’s great, amazing. I love her recipes. She is the savior for those of us who stay away from home. Or the famous Bengali blogger who continues to be the constant source of contemporary Bengali songs. And how I can forget Donald Burleson who has a solution for almost all my technical problems!
In is the era of Blog-Explosion it is totally uncool not to have a blog entry. People mention Blogging in their list of hobbies to look cool. People write about anything and everything in their blogs. If one does not blog sensibly it manifolds the possibility of attacks or threats against the blogger. Many have seen unforeseen consequences like being thrown out of their jobs because of irresponsible Blogging!
As rightly said in the recent movie “The Social Network”, Internet is written in ink, not in pencil, if the direction of the news in all Blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context continue for long, then what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding.
