A Celebration of Love

A Celebration of Love

After being married for 17 years, I can safely say this

“Love doesn’t excuse our faults: it makes them insignificant”.

That’s what the celebration of love is all about. Loving each other no matter what. I feel blessed to admit I am happy. My family and I love and cherish each other.

As I bask in the joy of our seventeenth wedding anniversary, I am not going to rave about lessons learned or wax lyrical about relationships. I am just content to know in my heart that I am in a place where I want to be, with who I want to be. Someone who is happily tolerant about the way I am and loves me because of it. I reciprocate that love.  I am conscious of what I have and I am grateful for it.

It has been a sad-happy time for us since Feb 8, 2010 when my Mom passed away suddenly. But as she would say, “Respect the dead, Celebrate the living“,  we hug each other and continue to appreciate all that we have with love and gratitude.

We continue to marvel at the wonderful years we’ve been together. On our 15th wedding anniversary, I wrote a post titled “Secrets to a happy marriage” and I am glad to say I still believe in them.

On the way back, as we walked, we tackled those little chores we always seem to have. There’s a little pet shop on that road and we stopped to gaze at the birds. Taking time to smell the flowers, in fact. Before we knew it, we had spent an hour there, bird-watching, in the warm sunshine, before we strolled back home.

The birds were delightful. Go on. Click a pic to browse all of them. Then click anywhere on this screen to return to the post.
