Summer has gotten off to a rather interesting start here. In addition to my poison ivy battle my finger decided to swell up for no particular reason so now I’ve lost the use of half of a hand.
My poor useless hand.
I’ve been icing it and trying to keep it from moving so hopefully it’ll get better quickly. It’s also making typing and cross stitching a pain so I’ve been trying to teach my left hand to compensate so I can get better without sitting around uselessly. It helps that my new phone (the ipone 4S) has Siri, which I’ve used to dictate emails and text messages and save my hand. I never thought that would come in handy as more than a novelty, but who knew…
I did have some time, before my finger went all crazy, to work on my cross stitch project. I switched from my hoop to my scroll frame stand wince I’ll no longer have to travel from place to place with a project. Not too crazy about the scroll frame but the stand is helpful, especially with my lame hand.
My big cross stitch project on its scroll frame,
I’ve managed to finish the people and some of the background. I’ve finished the first sheet of the pattern so it won’t be long now and the whole thing will be finished. I still need to start on that wedding project though. And I’ve got a job interview this Friday so if that goes well I’ll have even less time but I still think I can manage it.
I do have to mention how disappointed I am in this pattern. The pattern comes in two pages and on the second page (the top half) it marks off five lines as being repeated. This is not true. There are actually about 25 lines that are repeated. So you can imagine my disappointment when I started stitching only to discover I was repeating and had to unstitch about 200 x’s. At least I figured it out eventually but it really should have been marked.
On a more pleasant note…here’s a picture of my breakfast.
peanut butter and banana toast
No matter what this breakfast always makes me feel like a little kid again and it’s so tasty, not to mention fairly healthy. So while I enjoy this I’ll let you all get back to your days. Hope you have a good week, read a book or do something crafty.
