The ships wait in the window of the barn.....
for their voyage through the trees to begin.
We set off by the back door: the rhododendron, the sweet woodruff and a plant that has escaped from the house
then
fall tipsily into the whorl of the fern
visit the rare and little known May Apple.
Too much green
!I remember going with Lori to buy this azalea --to an old house under the trees in East Northport where wild acres were filled with spindly, rare plants and a very old lady agreed to part with her treasures if they were to be cared for. That was quite a long time ago now.
Now a bronze fern to break the monotony
and a thing that isn't a poisonous caterpillar fallen from the black walnut tree
we eventually reach the blush of apple blossom.
