A Look Back on June Goals

Posted on the 17 July 2013 by Sara Maurer @smaurer18
At the beginning of June, one of the Tuesday Topics link-up topics was eight goals for the month. I decided to re-visit this and see how well I did/didn't do. I can honestly say I think I did pretty well in June. July is another story....we've been incredibly busy that it's been increasingly difficult to stick with anything. That's life though, right? ;-) So, let's see how I did.....
Here are the goals I listed in this post.  My progress is listed directly below in italics. :-)
{Continue eating healthy} I've done pretty well at sticking with the healthy eating. It may not always be clean eating, but, I am proud as to where I am compared to where I was.
--I actually did pretty well with this the month of June.  Of course, there were days when it was more difficult, but, I can honestly say I stuck with this a majority of the month.
{Work-out 3-5 times per week} I joined the gym. I know, I'll give you all a minute to pick up your jaws from the floor. But, I am actually excited and happy I did this. So, I want to try to work out 3-5 times per week, depending on what other things we have going on (sessions, family obligations, etc).
--I totally rocked this goal the month of June!  I was able to work out 5 days per week all but 1 week in June.  I felt awesome when I was working out regularly.  I'm hoping to get this going again in August.
{Run for 'X' minutes straight} I want to be able to run...and run for 'X' amount of minutes straight. I want to leave this goal a little loose, because I know I'll be proud no matter how many minutes I'm able to run straight. :-)
--This is kind of hard to gauge for me....due to the work outs I did at the gym, I am not sure if it was really considered 'running.'  But, I can say that I can sprint run for 2-3 minutes straight, which granted, may not sound like much, but for me, it is a huge deal!
{Pack my breakfast and lunch daily} I run out of time in the mornings, so, I usually just grab something in our cafeteria or something while I'm out on lunch. This week, I've been good with getting healthier options, but, they aren't always cost effective. I want to try to be better about packing and bringing my own breakfasts and lunches this month.
--I did this Mon-Thurs every day in June for the most part for breakfast. Friday was always my 'free' day, but, other than that, I packed my breakfast every day.  Lunch was always a bit harder to commit to, but, I was good about getting healthier lunch items, like a salad, most days.
{Family pictures} The last time we had family pictures taken, Ryder was 11 months old. He is now 2 1/2. I'd say we're a little overdue. Plus, I really need to get some pictures put up on my walls, so, might as well get some new photos to display. :-)
--Fail...epic fail.  I think we are going to wait until November to get these taken.  I love fall colors and fall weather, so, it made sense just to wait.
{Save $$} We have quite a bit coming up, and, I need to start putting some extra $$ away. Easier said than done. ;-)
--Meh, didn't do this so much.  Summer sucks, just because there is so much fun stuff to do, and most of it costs money.  Bleck.  I guess I'll give this one another try. ;-)
{Find new, healthier meals to make for home} I need to do a lot of research and find some new recipes to make at home that are healthier. It's hard sometimes, because we are usually on the go, so it's easier and more convenient to just grab something on our way out or on our way home. I really want to be better at this!
--I made a few new healthy recipes, some went over well, some, not so much.  I'm still on the hunt for some new recipes, so, if you have any you'd like to share, please send them my way!! :-)
{Buy some new work-out gear} I need some new work-out pants and shirts. So much for saving all of that $$, huh?! Ha, I'll try to find some things more cost effective.
--I bought a couple of new things (some tops and compression capris) and I LOVE them!!  I have my eyes set on some new Asic work out shoes, but, I'm pushing that purchase back until at least August.  I guess my Nike's will have to do for now. :-)
So, all in all, I think I did ok.  I plan on setting up another list of goals for the month of August, so I'll share that once I can sit down and mull it all over.
Happy hump day friends!
