A New Struggle

Posted on the 11 June 2012 by Brenda @PibblesNHeathen
I don't know why it happens but it just does. My brain started churning over the weekend and it left me asking more questions and questioning my faith and my path.
As a Christian, I learned "God" was the creator of "heaven" and Earth. That is what the Bible said and so, I as an Episcopalian was led to believe that. Yet now that I'm a non-believer in the Christan God ways and the Bible, and am Pagan, I find myself wanting to know "Who created the  Earth ?" and "Who created life?"
My current path is that of the Norse, Heathen. I follow a lot of the Asatru ways yet I don't believe Odin or Thor or any of the Gods or Goddesses created the  Earth . They may have added to the human population, but they didn't create the first humans that walked the  Earth .
So now I must ask myself, if Odin and/or Thor did not create the first humans and they did not create the  Earth , why do I idolize them? Why do I acknowledge them as my God?
Simply put...... I don't know.

What I do believe, and this may be a change in my path as I am ever evolving spiritually, is the  Earth was here first. I don't need to question how the  Earth became because if I did that, I would have to question how the other planets became.
Christian God did not create Pluto, Mars, Uranus, etc. just like he did not create  Earth . So why even idolize him? Oh because we are taught in the Bible that he created everything. Is the Christian belief to believe there is a God for each planet? I don't recall any talk about other planets yet we know for a fact, they do exist.
Now I'm back to thinking. If the  Earth was here. Not created by a being or a God, it just happened. Just like the other planets just happened to exist. Is this where Nature as a whole, is the God and Goddess in itself? By thinking this way, is this how Nature worshippers began? No God or Goddess like being to worship, just Nature in itself?
This is truly baffling to me as now I am questioning my path in Asatru. Is it still the Christian belief in me to idolize a "being" what led me to Asatru in the first place? If neither a physical being nor a spirit created the  Earth , why chose a path with a God and Goddess? Why not just soak in the beauty of Nature, pray to the sun and the moon (not as God and Goddess) but as a beautiful thing as Nature is?
I might be rambling but does any of this make sense to you? I truly believe I had some sort of spiritual "revelation" and don't 100% agree with my current path. I believe the heat of this past weekend, slapped me upside my head and said "I am the power to believe in. Forget the rest." :)
