How have three years in a university helped me understand uni life and its students?
-The Library-
There are many benefactors to this cause. I have come to a realization that when I choose to study in the university's library, it is inevitable known that there will always be a rowdy bunch in the area, especially when your in a room labeled 'QUIET STUDY AREA' . Or maybe its my mistake and have imagined the 'QUIET' part :P
Nevertheless, I cant help but feel like this is what I actually need :) Yes funny to say, the 'diverse' company is what I really need to help me concentrate. Believe you me, when im at home (some of you may feel the same way) I cant study...for obvious reasons, the distractions, and how it is too.damn.QUIET.
Somehow the noise around me allows me to work hard to concentrate, it give me that extra encouragement to attend to my studies.
My little confession - it makes me seem like a hard worker, knowing that others are off chatting to one another around me and im by my lonesome gayly typing away on my laptop :)
Now if your'e not like me and really crave for peace and quiet, I suggets you:
  • Go to the information desk and ask for the keys to a private quite study room.
  • Roam around the entire library and find that magical secluded spot you are yearning for.
  • Go into a actual study room with other students; at least there you will all conform into one silent mass.
  • I suggest for you to also invest in a good pair of noise canceling earphones/buds, these really help to just block out unwanted noise. FYI they need to be comfortable if you are planning on staying in the library for a while.

Stories from the past -
So one time a friend an I were in the library, we missed lunch and were starving. We were too lazy to get out the library to eat so we took out our packed lunches (I had a cold sandwich, she had a microwaved pasty which she bought prior to entering the library.) We decided to go in between some book cases to finally devour our much deserved lunches, needless to say my friends pasty could be smelled a mile away. A librarian or should a say bloodhound found us and kicked us out :( after telling us that,
"...the smell gave it away."
