Well now that it’s officially Thanksgiving I thought I’d write up a quick post on the things that I’m most thankful for. Pretty common idea here, so let’s just jump right into it!
First and foremost, I’m thankful for my wonderful son. He’ll be four months old in six days, and he is the light of my life. I definitely didn’t think I was ready to be a father when my ex and I first discovered she was pregnant, but I’m so glad to have him in my life now. Without him, I wouldn’t have focused as much as I am now and surely wouldn’t be striving to achieve the goals that I am. I would also like to say that I am thankful for his mother as well. We’re not together, and haven’t been in some time now, but our relationship is better this way, and through all the good and bad over the last five years, I still think of her as a wonderful person, and can think of nobody else I would want to raise my son. I also appreciate her family, who have been so supportive and understanding of me and all the trials over the years. They have always been welcoming, even when the relationship was rocky. I would like to thank both of my families (biological and adopted) for their continued love and support. Without that I wouldn’t have the confidence to pursue my dreams. I’m grateful for my friends as well, who’ve been by my side, supported me, and occasionally egged me on into trouble (what else are good friends for?).
I’m grateful for being born in a wonderful country, which grants me opportunities too many people on this Earth will never receive. America has it’s problems and issues, as all nations, and at times they seem overwhelming, but even through all that, those of us here and in other first-world nations have a life many would literally kill to achieve. I have lived in my car, and have slept on the streets, and even through all of that, I still had more than most. For that I am truly blessed. Which leads me to my next big point; our military. I am so proud of our men and women serving. It doesn’t matter what role they play, or when they’ve served throughout history. The point is that it’s considered serving for a reason. These men and women sacrifice so much for our nation, and they deserve our respect, admiration, and gratitude. Sure, you may not agree with whatever war is currently raging, or whatever atrocious action a group of soldiers or Marines may be committing, but keep in mind that the individual does not represent the whole, and that these men and women have signed contracts to follow orders, and give away many of their constitutional rights and freedoms. A large number of troops are against the very wars that they are fighting in. Support them, because they are fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, brothers, sisters, and more who are doing what they do often out of selflessness.
I’m also grateful for the personality I’ve been blessed with. I’ve matured and grown into a man who has a deep thirst for knowledge and improvement. I am amazed to find how much I want be productive in life, and to experience new things. To grow and achieve. I’ve become passionate about art, history, science, and so much more, including, of course, my writing. As long as I have a goal, I know that I will prosper.
Finally, I want to thank my readers, whether they agree with my posts and opinions or not. If it weren’t for my readers, I wouldn’t succeed, and they make this website what it is. I look forward to your feedback as Something More grows and evolves, and am excited to see it grow and evolve with you, based on what you want to see more of, and the direction you wish to see this happen.
